Which religion is rapturing today? (Aug 22, 2006)
I have read something about a 12th imam (some Islamic rapture deal?) and about some fundamentalist Christians, whose rapture keeps being moved. Wasn't it supposed to be on June 6, 06? Then it was supposed to be in the beginning of August and some dimwit quit his job? (As if Jesus couldn't find him at work.)

So which deity do I need to be looking for today?

1. Your so funny - you are the first person to make this kind of joke today
If only someone else had figured out a way to make some sort of joke of this - gosh - your brilliant.

12. I'm not a world famous blogger
My blog has been a complete failure from top to bottom - but i keep it going for reasons that surpass me.

Also I don't blog out of my mother basement -which would be difficult in any case as she passed away a few years back.

15. No, your characterization was pretty dead on except the mothers basement
part. I'm an overweight sarcastic loser who you should feel happy looking down your nose towards. Congratulations.

18. And you can dish it out but can't take it--you go for the sympathy vote
When you attack, expect a defense. And don't assume that posting a little pity party will make the person back down.

You could apologize for snarking without cause. But I'm not holding my breath.

22. You went straight for the personal - I'm sorry
I should have a thicker skin I suppose.

But ok, I apologize for making fun of the fact that this is like the 20th rapture post I've seen today all of which have pretty much exactly the same joke. Certainly you have as much right to make lame jokes as anybody else.

21. Dude, you made the first post in this thread a snarky shot at the OP.
What's the problem- too many "left behind" rapture maniacs getting picked on for your taste?

Maybe... let's see.. we're "alienating the values voter", perchance?

Perhaps we just need fewer of these threads, and a few more about how criticism of far right fundamentalist 700 Club nutjobs equates to "persecution" and "bashing" of "All Christians". :eyes:

Pure random silliness. That's about the highest my witty and clever aspirations go.

Peace.

4. No, the joke is, these fuckers are writing our foreign policy.
Not to mention running the FDA and trying to dictate the content of public school science textbooks.

Ha, Ha.

6. Thank you! That's exactly the problem.
The unholy alliance between untrammeled greed and ignorance will destroy this nation quicker than any outside agency.

Ishtar has been moved to Thursday, which is gonna piss Thor's people off to no end.

I think we've got some kind of South American Pelican God all through Tomorrow.

8. Good point! Hey, at least we don't have to worry about the Catholics.
trying to pull anything. The Pope says it's bad too work too hard.

Ending the world seems pretty tiresome.

Then again, the Pope is pretty tiresome if you ask me.

**Incidentally, I laughed because Letterman made a joke about this. He said, "Oh great, just what we need. More Catholic priests with time on their hands!"

CASTEL GANDOLFO, Italy (AP) — Working too hard, even for those leading the Catholic Church, is bad for the spirit, Pope Benedict XVI said Sunday as he greeted tourists at his summer residence outside Rome.

During his traditional weekly appearance to bless the faithful, Benedict quoted from writings of St. Bernard in the 12th century meant for the popes of his time on the subject of overwork.

Benedict quoted the saint as advising pontiffs to "watch out for the dangers of an excessive activity, whatever ... the job that you hold, because many jobs often lead to the 'hardening of the heart,' as well as 'suffering of the spirit, loss of intelligence.'"

"That warning is valid for every kind of work, even those involved in the governing of the church," 79-year-old Benedict said.

I saw a couple of times: "Jesus is Coming - Look Busy".

The guy who quit his job obviously never saw that one.
