I Got Your Dem October Surprise RIGHT HERE:
October 30 -- Announce that NO CONCESSIONS will be made in any district where electronic voting or opscan is used, until satisfied with results, including recounts. PERIOD. If it's up in the air for 6 months, TOO BAD.

Comments welcome.

2. Abso-freakin-lutely
I think one of the (many) things that's done our elections in is this incredible impatience to know the results on election night. What's wrong with taking the time to make sure it's done right? Is America not worth ensuring that everyone who's eligible and wants to can vote, and that every vote is counted properly no matter how long it might take?

4. My thoughts exactly. What's with the race to project who the winner is?
I think we should have a 24 hr. period, being the same all over the country, for voting. That way voting starts and ends the same time for everyone, and with 24 hours you would probably get more people to vote.

6. That and/or make election day a holiday
I honestly have no idea who decided on the current and variable voting hours -- but it can't have been a working person with a family!

Welcome to DU!

22. Stupid idea
The GOPigs would use it against us in 2008, tying up the vote for YEARS on end to allow BUSH to serve a "third term"

41. I pegged him as one of "them" when he had 20 posts........
I'm surprised he made it all the way to 70+ posts before he was tombstoned. He did at least try to appear as somewhat progressive but his combative, caps-lock "replys" gave him away. He could spell better than most of them though. These guys follow a pattern. Not filling in their profile is usually a dead giveaway. I guess they think if we know their sex or country of origin we can hunt them down or something? Who knows what goes on in the minds of these freeps? If anything. ;)

5. Oakland mayor's race
We had a mayor's race that was too close to call whether Ron Dellums (yes, that Ron Dellums) had won outright or had to go to a runoff election. It wasn't decided for days. It didn't hurt anyone to wait.

Anyone elected in November doesn't take office until January. We have time to wait.

complained or winned. remarkable, oh never mind. they're both Librul Dems.
btw I voted for De La Fuente primarily because unlike Dellums he actually lives in Oakland but I'm not a bit sorry Dellums won. it wasn't much of a delema good v good.

9. Agree 100%! Unfortunately, we aren't elected Dems and have no
power or say in this matter.

If there were a party backbone, this would have been dealt with.

I'd really like to know the honest reason it hasn't been!

there is no way that the repubs let this one get away. unless we take to the streets in significant numbers to convince the military to back us, we would be mowed down.
