RE: 8/21 Daily Show Moment of Zen.
While channel surfing last week, I saw somebody push a button and blow up a truck in a desert-like area. I figured it was just a scene from one of those shows like Mythbusters or Monster Garage, but I learned the awful truth during The Daily Show's Moment Of Zen last night. The somebody was Kelly Arena, the channel was CNN, and the purpose was to show what the trooops in Iraq were living with! What apallingly bad taste, particularly since showing soliders' coffins is still a no-no! I thought they'd learned their lesson after that reporter allowed himself to be tasered. Isn't Zen supposed to make you feel GOOD?

but I'm fairly sure that it's not supposed to make you feel like chug-a-lugging a bottle of Pepto Bismol.

5. It's definitely not designed to make you feel comfortable.
In fact, the opposite is desired.

We tend to discard the obvious in search of the inobvious. One function of Zen, if there is a function, is to correct such silliness.

As the one master, on his death bed, communicated to his novitiate, who was demanding to know the true meaning of life. The master called the seeker to his bed side and rapped him smartly on the head. The true meaning? When you get hit on the head, it hurts!
