Murtha Says Bush 'Just Doesn't Get It'

JOHNSTOWN, Pa., Aug. 22 /U.S. Newswire/ -- President George W. Bush "just doesn't get it" when it comes to the war in Iraq, according to U.S. Rep. John P. Murtha, (D-Pa.).

"The President's attacks against Democratic Party critics of the war at his news conference Monday fail to recognize the reality of the catastrophe that is occurring daily in Iraq because of the war," he said.

"Last month was the bloodiest month of the war with almost 3,500 Iraqi civilians and dozens of American soldiers being massacred. The President's stubborn decision to stay the course and insist that American troops will not be brought home while he is president ignores the suffering and damage that is going on there.

"Even our own military leaders and leading elected officials in the Republican Party are now calling the conflict a civil war. Sixty percent of the America people say they want an end to this war sooner rather than later. But President Bush seems out of touch with all this.

...

"I, for one, will not be distracted from my mission to bring about redeployment of American troops in Iraq just because the president lashes out in a partisan way at his critics. We're spending $8 billion a month on this war, our courageous fighting men and women are being killed and maimed and we are wreaking havoc on Iraq. An end must be brought to this now," Murtha said.

1. Murtha is being too kind...
...I don't know how Murtha does it! A real vet like him who can keep being so civil and patient when discussing such a chickenshit-chickenhawk, draftdodging-drunkard as Bush, Jr.

4. Oh he gets it alright
Bush knows all he has to say is inane garbage that sounds good and riles up all the idiots in his constituency. It doesn't even have to be logical anymore. Murtha gives Bush's character too much credit; that's what good people often end up doing

5. Maybe if anyone in the upper echelons had actually served
Instead of the group of deserters and draft-dodgers currently ordering the military around, maybe someone with a little military experience should have a seat at the table when the Bush cabal is plotting what to do next, hmmm? As it is, these tyros see the troops as little more than pieces on a Risk game board writ large.

7. Bush does get it, he needs to stay in the middle east for a US. presence
to control the oil and that's precisely what he aims to do.

Like Condi said; "it's time for a new middle east" we're waiting on the 14 US. bases to be completeed and/or certainly the mega-huge US. Embassy must be completed.

Do you realize how bad of a failure Bushco would appear if he actually got his ass kicked out of Iraq?? that's why BUSH states; we must,
stay that course baby...

8.  We're spending $8 billion a month on this war,
I wish he would break it down even further as in we are spending (charging on the Credit Card) over $185,000.00 per minute. Eight billion is hardly an easy number to fatham...
