How to make the Ramsey case matter
via Steve Gilliard:

...Too many people on the left whine about this being news instead of turning it into a narrative of how America's economy allows untrustworthy teachers into schools because of pay scales, how working conditions force parents to leave kids alone for hours every day.

Crime will always make news, always has. But we need to start changing the narrative of these stories. Part of it is the injustice the Ramseys suffered through and part, that predators like Karr are passed from school systems without comment.

There are issues here more than fried prawns, if people seize on them.

Something to think about.

1. Brilliant! The opportunities to share our values are many - we just...
...need to spot them.

2. Jon Benet Ramsey was not alone because of her
parents' working conditions. And most teachers are wonderful, generous and kind. All professions have crooks -- think Pat Robertson is -- or at least claims to be -- a minister. And then there is Bush -- supposedly a president -- but in fact a sociopath.

4. Oh just chill out and see an opportunity when you have one!
Who cares what JBR's parents' working conditions were? In fact who cares about any of this JBR nonsense? But if we can ride the odd fascination that the rest of the ghouls have for this, and make some good Progressive points in the process, what does it matter??

6. Heres' another way: attack the media Circus of Blood
why is our media so obsessed with relative obscurities? How can we force themto address their role as a check and balance to government?

I like the idea of folks attending the latest live-camera media conflagration in appropriate tsheirst ("media suck--cover the truth") on a t shirt, say, or just shout out loud & clear toward the closest microphone your disapproval about the misuse of OUR broadcast airwaves.

sort of a freeway blogger attack on media
