If the war in Iraq is over, the US economy will go in recession.

The war spending is a huge boost to the current economy, but unlike spending on domestic infrastructure like roads and upgrading the electric grids, war spending is like burning cash. You will never see it again, nor will you ever get any lasting benefit. The economy is on the edge of sliding into a deep recession with the housing market bubble slowly deflating and energy prices increasing. If you eliminated the cash from the war in Iraq, the economy would flaten out like a pancake.

The day will come when we have to pay these war bills, maybe sooner than expected.

2. I haven't seen any boost
to my economy from Bush's stupid little war-all I've seen is less income and higher prices.

3. Boost to the economy?
Maybe yours, but I know a lot more people who have been screwed since late 2001 than have been OK.

4. The War Bills are piling up at over $185,000.00 per MINUTE
That is how much we are currently spending on Iraq...Charging on the Credit Card I should say.....We don't have the money to actually pay for this so we are charging it..

5. Since US workers aren't seeing
any financial benefit from this war, I don't understand how it's supposed to be helping the economy anyway? No new jobs were created for US citizens as a result of the war -- maybe more jobs outsourced..... (Not trying to be argumentative -- I'm really curious if this has truth to it & how it works)

6. Here at the Bombwerks, business is booming, so to speak!
The economy is about to have bad things happen to it, war or no. Things shall become very ugly here & soon. The only positive I see in the whole sordid mess is that times of great pain traditionally open the door for the policies of the much demonized "Far Left". Rest assured, we are ready to make the most of the opportunity.

But it is guaranteed to be extremely painful and we shall all suffer immensely, Thanks to the wastrels that have put us in this position. They have squandered everything to enrich themselves, leaving a great underclass, the majority of which is to ignorant to even realize they have been screwed.

7. I couldn't disagree more..
... the war expenditures are going to a very few companies and people. The Fed is printing money like there was no tomorrow, money our kids will have to pay or we will have to default on paying back, either overtly or via inflation.

"The economy" is never a good excuse for pouring money down a rathole, and that's exactly what we are doing.
