If there was indeed a concerted effort to create a Pearl Harbor, or at least, an effort to exploit the disaster, then we should be seeing a patchwork of the same people involved back then, that are now coming together in agreement today.

The one person that comes to mind is Netanyahu. He was the first one I remember who came on the air and responded to a question about what the USA should do to retaliate. I don't remember who he suggested we should attack (does anybody else remember?) but I do distinctly recall he said he didn't know IF America had the will. Didn't Bush use that same phrase yesterday?

It seems alot of people have been trying to harness America's will for war for sometime. Has anybody else picked up similar phraseology from Bush currently that resembles anything we've heard from a pro-war proponent just after 9/11?

1. Netanyahu's first reaction to attacks on cnn “It's very good"
i was shocked when i watched him say that before he quickly corrected himself..

Three years ago, on September 12, 2001, Israeli Finance Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was asked how the previous day’s terror attacks in New York and Washington would affect relations between Israel and the United States. “It's very good,” he said. “Well, not very good, but it will generate immediate sympathy.” The attack, Mr. Netanyahu explained, would “strengthen the bond between our two peoples, because we've experienced terror over so many decades, but the United States has now experienced a massive haemorrhaging of terror.”

3. I remember...
tuning into my local NPR station that morning...one of the first callers was a Jewish person who's sole comment was:

"welcome to our world"

And it was said with a hint of anger...I remember being incredably pissed off at this comment.

About the hawks though...I also remember reading about Netanyahu saying this and of course Donnie Rumpsfeld was shortly afterwards saying to "sweep it all up".

2. Rumsfeld on the actual day in a news conference
was obviously ready.
I remember watching it in the afternoon and thinking it was Vietnam all over again.
Flint eyed men ready to go to war & with that look in their eye of being predators (maybe that's why they are called hawks).
I saw the whole scenario played out in front of my eyes in a flash of precognition.
I turned the TV off in disgust.
Nothing that has happened since has surprised me particularly.

5. I'm just wondering how much of this was seen as an opportunity.
What did they know, and when did they know it? I don't know what snopes has to say about it, but one of the early bits of info was that Israel intelligence had tried to warn the U.S. intelligence that something was going to happen. I wouldn't know where to search for it.
