McCain Ads On DU?

I think you ascribe much more meaning to this alleged ad than it deserves. We do not choose or approve which banner ads run at the top and bottom of the page here on DU. The ads are served our website automatically.

We do, however, have the ability to block any ad after it starts running. If you know the URL (web address) that the advertisement leads, please post it here so I can add it to the filter.

Sometimes it takes 24 hours for the ad to be removed, so let me know asap.

I donate by snail mail though. If I donate today, by mail, will the ads be blocked, or will it be too late? Anyway, I love my DU, so I'll send something I can afford, today, whether the ads get blocked or not.

Damn, I lost my star! Time to fix that . . .

When DU receives your donation and notes which account should get credit for it. You did include your DU handle with your check, I hope. Check your settings in a few days, or send a message to one of the mods asking if they could keep an eye out for your envelope.

How come I can't block the ads?

7. You can turn off the ads, go to options and click on edit preferences

go to the bottom:
Display Google ads?
Selecting "no" will turn off Google ads (donor only) yes no

and hit no

I think you have a right to the comment. I donate to DU and don't block the ads because that brings extra revenue in for DU. That said, I would not like to see an ad for McCain on this site!
