Clear Channel Communications Inc., the largest U.S. radio broadcaster, will air 2-second ads for the first time to promote the season premieres of Fox television shows including "The Simpsons." The "blink" ads will feature an audio clip, such as Homer Simpson's "Doh!" followed by a message urging listeners to tune in, said Jim Cook, senior vice president for creative services at San Antonio-based Clear Channel's radio unit. Fox, owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., also is using "blink" ads to promote the dramas "House" and "Prison Break," said Kaye Bentley, the network's senior vice president for national media. Fox will use longer ads to lure viewers not familiar with the shows, Bentley said in an interview. She declined to say how much Fox is paying for the 2-second spots. Fox also said yesterday viewers will be able to watch shows including "Prison Break," "Bones," "The Loop," "American Dad" and "Stacked" on the Web sites of nine company-owned TV stations, including New York."
