"Are you disappointed 3,500 Iraqis were killed last month"? "No."

From bush's Monday press conference:

Q Thank you, Mr. President. More than 3,500 Iraqis were killed last month, the highest civilian monthly toll since the war began. Are you disappointed with the lack of progress by Iraq's unity government in bringing together the sectarian and ethnic groups?

THE PRESIDENT: No, I am aware that extremists and terrorists are doing everything they can to prevent Iraq's democracy from growing stronger. That's what I'm aware of.

1. That number is probably in his 'acceptable body count' zone. He'd
probably be happier if it were a little higher, less terraists to have to deal with you know.

:sarcasm:

2. Iraq never had a democracy
It has a government whose officials are propped up by the "extremists" Bush** refers to.

The militias and their control pre-dated the government. They're still the de facto government, while Bush**'s puppets govern only at their say so.

4. This question and answer could very well appear on the next...
..."Made In America"-type banner, in shortened form. I could imagine this, like the photo showing a vast area of destruction in Lebanon with the "Made In America" banner in the foreground, effectively used in a anti-American propaganda campaign. President Bush seems to intend to create additional numbers of folks who have a sincere desire to do harm to this country.

The best thing republicans in general, and President Bush in particular, could do for our country is nothing! The best thing they (and he) could say is nothing. For the good of America GOP, sit down, shut up and do nothing. Wait for the real 'grown ups' to come.

5. In US terms that would be like losing 35,000 people.

Think about that for a minute we have roughly 10x the population that Iraq does. Imagine fighting going on here that killed 35,000 civilians. It would be like having 13 1/2 911 attacks in one month.
