Didn't Katrina prove these idiots are not good on national security?
I believe it did. National security isn't all about terrorists, it's about other things, including natural disasters. New Orleans wasn't secure for at least 4 days after the disaster, there was chaos at the convention center, plus people stranded.

If they can't handle a natural disaster, how on earth are the good on national security?

2. The excuse at the time was "we are preparing for terrorism, not ntil dis"
it didn't make sense to me then, still doesn't. Another disconnect. People have told me that disconnect, between what was said and what was shown, was a major turning point against the administration.

7. but they said the most likely disaster was a hurricane on new orleans
how could this be the excuse, homeland security had a list of the most likely disasters and they had a direct strike on new orleans as number one!

if they weren't ready for number one, i would like to know just what they WERE ready for?

an attack on a petting zoo in peoria by first graders?

8. Indeed. I think Katrina bit them on the behind bad.
They were ready for nothing. They have no imagination, just a lot of greed. And how are YOU doing?

3. They couldn't handle it and didn't. Why was the
reaction to a tsunami a world away more attended to than New Orleans?
Bored, disinterested, clueless, nepotism, ennui, vacation, shoes/baseball/bunker/Cindy and clueless.

4. Yeah, and they're not good at much, in all honesty. That's one thing

I keep hoping folks will pick up on. Incompetence - under the platitudes and the bluster, what's really getting done? That's just a basic thing, y'know?, regardless of the job.

And with katrina, their incompetence is also achingly sad from just a gut level human perspective.

5. as far as i'm concerned this crowd is good for fuck-all

911, anthrax, american airlines 587, and we're not even out of 2001 yet proved their uselessness just fine, years before katrina

nobody who is paying attention could have ever believed these dim bulbs are capable of doing anything to secure this nation's borders from enemies or from mother nature

they are quite quite hopeless

the tragedy is that new orleans voted for john kerry by like a 2 to 1 margin if i recall correctly, they are punished for the sins of others

6. This all happened within nine months of Bush Jr's re-election
and his poll rating dropped down very quickly to the point where it is today, 33% and has never recovered. Bush Jr's poll rating on 9/10/01 was at 50% and dropping. I think this very good proof that this guy was never, truly won the election that put him in office.
