Did anyone else hear an NPR report this morning about Bushco

reclassifying information and reports on our nuclear armaments? They said the information had been declassified since the 1960's and reported on publicly, but the most secretive Admin ever is classifying this because of terrorists threats.

I just went to NPR/Morning Edition and this morning's report isn't there, and it didn't come up with a search, either. Did anyone else hear it? I haven't listened to the two hour program yet.

They'd classify the phone directory if they thought it would further their objectives.

2. Yes, I heard it this morning too.

I have also heard it reported elsewhere. The information being classified was available to and known by our supposed enemies, the Soviets. Now, all of a sudden *Co wants it classified.

on Sunday night. The were talking about how it was ridiculous to wipe out info that had been made public many years ago. What they did not say was whose idea this was...

The Bush administration has begun designating as secret some information that the government long provided even to its enemy the former Soviet Union: the numbers of strategic weapons in the U.S. nuclear arsenal during the Cold War.

In a 1971 appearance before the House Armed Services Committee, for instance, Defense Secretary Melvin R. Laird offered a chart showing, among other things, that the United States had 30 strategic bomber squadrons, 54 Titan intercontinental ballistic missiles and 1,000 Minuteman missiles.

Those numbers, made public on March 9, 1971, are redacted in a copy of the chart obtained by the archive's researchers in January as part of a declassified government history of the U.S. air and missile defense system, according to archive officials.

Well, now what? Will the Post be prosecuted?
