Not even if those nebulous goals are miraculously reached in Iraq before 2008, huh?

1. Or you could take it another way...
...and say he might not be confident in reaching his goals by then.

3. That's news???
The 14 permanent military bases in Iraq told me we're not leaving long ago. Just outsourcing all those closed American military bases (not to mention the jobs there that American civilians filled) to a cheaper source of labor.

22. You think Daddy would have warned him after that "read my lips"
business not to make such rash statements. Oh wait, I forgot, he only asks his other father, Father Rove, for advice...

It'll be interesting to see what the military vote is come the '08 elections...
The "Stay the Course" candidates or "Let's get them the hell home" candidates...

15. I bet the Repubs running this fall won't like to hear that. It will
make the election even more a referendum on Iraq -- since we can say, the only way to get out is to impeach.

8. What happened to the "We'll stand down when the Iraqis
stand up." mantra? Did any of the lapdogs stop their yukking at Shecky Bush long enough to call him out on that little flip-flop?

10. Let's look at this another way . . .
As CAMPAIGN FODDER!

Schimpanski has just admitted:

1) His war has failed; he will never meet his objectives in Iraq
2) He's handing the mess over to the next administration
3) The "successful" phase of his presidency is over, and from now on he'll just be hanging on
4) There is an alternative: a situation where he is no longer president (he didn't say anything about Jan. 2009)

WE CAN MAKE HAY WITH THIS!

I listened to the press conference (wish I could have seen it to interpret the body language) and he came off as really weary, really frustrated, depressed, more inarticulate than usual (I know, hard to believe), but above all else, whiny and sad.

I don't know how the next 80 days will play out, or how long this rump presidency will last, but Bush is spiraling down to the abyss.

Let's just hope he doesn't drag the rest of us with him.

11. Americans who oppose this debacle of an administration
Edited on Mon Aug-21-06 08:58 PM by MadMaddie
Need to keep the pressure up....you know what his main failure is? It's all the things noted in above posts....but his main failure is he has never, ever, ever....x infinity been held responsible for anything he has done in his life....he has charmed his way through life getting away with ruining peoples lives.....well he has cost thousands of lives many of them American and he can't charm his way out of this.....

forgot to finish my thought...

Anyhoo....The pressure of being held to account for fucking up is mentally taxing to him...he is intellectually lazy and he has no coping skils for what's about to come in the next couple of months and the next couple of years..

Carma is a biatch.....and then she kicks you dead in the face!!

16. Would you expect a known, documented liar and coward to change his ways?
Chimpy would rather have thousands of dead American soldiers' blood on his hands as well as hundreds of thousands of dead due to his demonic policies than to actually be a man and admit he made a mistake.

Chimpy is a yellow-bellied pussy of a coward...he'll never be a real man and stand up for the truth. He's too weak and shallow...and that will be his legacy. And deep down, he knows it.

17. Here's another interpretation......
Bush: "We're not leaving, so long as I'm the president."

Translated: "We're not leaving, as long as no-one impeaches my sorry ass, and throws myself and all my cronies into the slammer, where we belong."

I think we should take the hint. What do you think? :think:

Bush says Iraq pullout up to 'future presidents'
Warns leaving too soon would boost Al Qaeda
By Susan Milligan, Globe Staff | March 22, 2006

WASHINGTON --

President Bush suggested yesterday that US troops might stay in Iraq beyond his presidency,
which ends in 2009, saying at a press conference that the issue of removing troops from
the country "will be decided by future presidents and future governments of Iraq."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He never planned an exit strategy. Why would he need one?
He has never planned on leaving from the beginning!
20. He said it in a different way then...
Edited on Mon Aug-21-06 09:40 PM by Breeze54
...although I'd have to hunt for it but if I remember correctly, he said;
"We'll leave when the job's done." or something to that effect.
Sounded like "NEVER during my time in office", to me!!
He never planned an exit strategy!!
21. This press conference was profoundly depressing. Then I remembered
we are taking back the House at least in November and perked up.
