1. I was looking at TD #4 off the coast of Africa this morning
That puppy's already got some circulation going.

If fronts keep coming through, though, they'll keep clipping the tops off all the storms that do form.

5. A-yup.
Based in State College, PA, where Penn State has one of the top meteorology schools, they annually lard up the Santorectum war chest with contributions. In return, he attempts to gut the National Weather Service. :puke:

8. Lots of $$$/profits to be made with selective advance weather warnings
Santorum's proposed legislation for Accuweather would bar government forecasters/NOAA from making available to the public (for free, of course, as a public service) any weather information which private entities offer for sale. Accuweather sells its services to many radio/TV channels. Now imagine the VAST profits to be made by investors if they got even a couple of hours of advance notice of changes in weather patterns, or predictions of changes, not to mention major hurricanes. An example would be the futures market for crops.

6. TD4/Debby is supposed to recurve
Not that there are no other waves to watch, but TD4 is not supposed to be a threat to the US. Bermuda...maybe.

But it's the peak of Hurricane season.. I expect it will pick up soon. I really could use a break. The first 6 years that we were in Florida, there wasn't much activity coming toward Florida. Now...in two years, I've been through Frances, Jeanne, Katrina(she actually hit us before she destoyed the Gulf Coast) and Wilma... I'm just really tired of it all.

10. Katrina hit the gulf coast on August 29th
That does not mean that there will be another hurricane that hits the gulf coast again this year or next year.

Nobody knows when or where the next tropical storms are going to hit land until they actually do that.
