Heard an encouraging story about election in Missouri on NPR
They said the rural folks were still pretty behind Bush and had some farmer who said he was sure al Qaeda wanted to destroy our strategic hog reserves there or something, but when they went to the city, they talked to a group of vets who said they weren't going to vote for Bush.

One guy said he used to vote straight republican, and he hasn't gotten more liberal just more disgusted with the GOP. He said he is voting for the Democratic candidate for senate only because she is NOT a republican.

Missouri seems like it's at a cultural crossroads between the Midwest and the South. If that's an attitude among veterans there, either the GOP will get their clock cleaned this fall or people will be in the streets if they win with their usual vote scams and intimidation.

My guess is it might be getting dicy for the Bushies to even try another terrorist attack.

2. it's farmers. They listen to Rush, feed their pigs, and maybe see Earl
at the feed store every other week. That doesn't exactly breed street savvy.

3. Everyone is sooooooooooo surprised that 50% of Americans
believe there are still WMD in Iraq, up from 35% in 2004!

Amazing, but where are people getting the info? From Fox, Rush and Co. If the FCC had any integrity they would take away their licenses to broadcast.

That is what we must do when we take over. Heh.

4. I live in NWMO
We had our primaries earlier this month, in the county right next door, where I lived once upon a time, there were 1000 reptiles who came out and 100 democrats, even here where I live it's not going to be easy.
We're outnumbered, and we've suffered a severe case of affluenca in the recent years, people have tried awfully hard to turn this into a suburb.
One thing that may work in our favor here is the price it takes to get to work, every morning and evening there is a traffic jam of people who have to work somewhere else.
They're paying out their noses for that, and getting pissed off at seeing so much of their income going into the gas tank.
As for the farmers, they're lemmings. I've watched them time and time again, they all follow bob smith who has the biggest farm, if good ole bob votes reptile then they follow right over the cliff.
What they don't know is good ole bob gets subsidized heavily and they get a crumb if that, fuck a bunch of farmers I don't have any respect at all for them.
If we're very lucky this fall, people will be pissed enough to run this second rate nazi we've got for a rep the hell out of here, and the rest of the state will do the same in our Senate race, but I'm not holding my breath.

7. An obvious way to get commuter votes is hit oil companies HARD
which shouldn't be hard to do:

We gave them Iraq and what did they give us in return?

Higher gas prices

Demands for more tax cuts

Demands for another war to seize Irans oil
