Field Marshal Erwin Rommel on Adolph Hitler
Over tea during a visit to Hitler's secret command post in the Ukraine, Rommel futiley urged the Fuhrer to shrink the Tunisian bridgehead to a defensible inner keep. Hitler dismissed the notion with a rant. "If the German people are incapable of winning the war," the Furher declared, "then they can rot." To his young son, Rommel confided, "Sometimes you feel that he's not quite normal."

An Army at Dawn, Rick Atkinson, P. 411

That's how I feel about Bu$h after that performance this morning: Sometimes you feel that he's not quite normal.

2. No doubt
I've heard binge drinking and snorting large amounts of coke can kill brain cells. I think at this point we can confirm it is true.

3. Sometimes? I've yet to meet one of these ruling class frat boys that
wasn't just twisted. Between the arrogance, belief in their own entitlement, and lack of intellectual horsepower, it becomes all too clear why and how things are so fucked up.

4. Godwin's Law
Dunno man. *Starting* a discussion with a reference to Hitler is like losing the debate before you even started it.

Then again, I suppose you could say this is beyond debate.

6. I'm related to Rommel somehow,
Not that it is anything to be proud of. My family came over in 1912. I have a picture of all of them before they left. My great great Grandmother was 18 at the time, the picture has her, and her parents and grand parents going back to her great great grandfather. She died in 78, her husband was Rommels brother or cousin, don't know which, neither she or my greatGrandmother would talk about him. They were ashamed. I think of it(him) as a novelty, and hope he was just a General, and had no knowledge of Hitler's crimes.

5. Wesley Clark's recollection about the Chimp-in-Chief.
Edited on Mon Aug-21-06 03:16 PM by shain from kane
Over BBQ during a visit to the Texas pig farm's secret command post in Texas, Clark futiley urged the Cheerleader to increase the troop level before invading Iraq. Bush dismissed the notion with a rant. "If the Army that we have is incapable of winning the war," the Cheerleader declared, "then we will pay $3.00 per gallon of gas, and like it." To his young son, Clark confided, "Sometimes you feel that he's not quite normal."

Edited to change Chimp's rant.
