Week of Nonviolent Action
September 21-28, 2006
Across the United States and at The US Congress in DC
The Declaration of Peace is organizing nonviolent action across the United States September 21-28 if the US Congress does not legislate an end to the US war in Iraq by September 21.

As part of this week of nonviolent action, we invite you to consider engaging in peaceful nonviolent civil disobedience/civil resistance. This will take place:

Locally in US Congressional Representative and Senate offices and other locally-selected sites across the United States on Friday, September 22 and Monday, September 25 (or other dates determined by local organizers).
In Washington, DC, at the US Congress in DC on Tuesday, September 26 and Wednesday, September 27. The September 26 action is being organized by the National Campaign for Nonviolent Resistance.
Participants will call on members of Congress to sign the Declaration of Peace Congressional Pledge and legislate a plan to bring the troops home and support a comprehensive peace process. Participants will engage in a sit-in or some other nonviolent action announcing their commitment to remain until the Congressional Pledge has been signed.

Those taking these actions will be risking arrest. In preparation, participants are strongly encouraged to take nonviolence training and join with others who are planning nonviolent action with support systems in place, including legal support, media work, and action logistics.

By registering below, we will be able to anticipate the participation levels in order to build nonviolent actions that deliver our call for a comprehensive end to the US war and occupation in Iraq in a centered and powerful way.

All information submitted will only be used for organizing Declaration of Peace nonviolent actions. The local registration information is for DOP informational purposes only. These actions are being planned by local organizing groups. We will do our best to connect you with a local organizing group (unless you are already connected to one), but we cannot be sure that groups will be organizing in your area
