Canvassing for Tammy Duckworth this weekend
As many know, Tammy is a Blackhawk pilot who lost both legs in Iraq, and is running for Henry Hyde's seat in Illinois. I spent Saturday in the burbs of Chicago going door to door, and the results were encouraging. The dems, of course, were pretty pumped, but the independents and even a few Repukes told me they were sick of this war, sick of the whole administration, and would look really hard at Tammy.

I had three different guys say "I usually vote Republican but...."

If this precinct was typical of the district, she's going to win going away. I only had two people say they were definitely voting for the generic millionaire Repuke fascist.

Perhaps after Labor Day we should set up a room to report results from get out the vote and registration campaigns around the country. The polls show this one a dead heat right now, but my experience there says that it won't be that close. I plan to spend at least a few more weekends working on that campaign (as well as a couple of others) so it will be interesting to see what happens as people start paying more attention to the race.

4. I know they have pulled it off before
But it ain't working with Murtha and it won't work in this case. Even the repukes there respect her. Although her opponent IS a scumbag. The good part is that Cheney came to town to help him out, and even Repukes don't particularly care for the draft-dodging asshole.

Im not sure my vote counts anymore. They are starting to find dirt on the Dupage Election board.

She better be prepared to fight after the election too.

3. They have a team dedicated to that issue
They don't want to get into details, but Rahm Emmanuel et al is providing resources for just such dirty tricks.
