I think Bush was cracking up on national TV
I came here expecting more threads on Bush's outlandish comments at this morning's press conference. Am I the only one who thought these were REALLY strange?:

You know I'm the first president not to carry the state I was born in? I guess you must not have or you would have gotten that right out there...in that ridiculous-looking outfit.

Hey, welcome back to the bosom of the White House! I'll give you a hug the next time I see you. When are you coming back again?

Everyone in the break room here at work was agape. I think his screws are coming loose right in front of the cameras.

3. He's really missing vacation, probably.
Not that he's actually working, of course.

16. Vacation = drinking as much as he wants;
Working = having to limit how much and when he drinks.

It's the first video listed under "Recent programs".

It hurts my head thinking this man runs the "free world"

36. what do you need to open those videos?
Explorer just comes up "page not found" and Firefox says it doesn't know how to open because the protocol (rtsp) isn't associated with any program.

38. thanks, I investigated further and found CSPAN does say
RealPlayer, preferably the latest version is needed -- and then I discovered this office computer doesn't have ANY version of RealPlayer -- I will soon download it (want to watch here instead of trying on my home dialup).

flabbergasted, humiliated, angered and beside myself over *'s demeanor.

I was also very discouraged and disappointed that the press corps allowed him yet another pass. They are truly bought and paid for and we have no representative press in this country anymore. Period.

edit: spelling

17. Why is it that we can all think of these kind of responses and questions
back to Bush, but no one in the media can??? Why can't someone, someone other than Helen Thomas show that the Emperor has no clothes!!!!! Why???

8. I'd have given anything to hear someone in that room say,
"You're just so cute." and while he was preening, followup with "you remind me of your daddy." He would have self-destructed on the spot, if someone would just have pushed that button of his.

10. Or, it would have been great if they'd said:
"Some day you may become half the man your Daddy is. Must be difficult always living in his shadow." Talk about self destruction! Why, Bush would turn red as a cherry and blow it right there on TV in front of everybody!

for some reporter, man or woman, in that room to grow some balls and react to his demeanor by letting him have it.

I KNEW it was coming. Then...nothing.

I find myself so angry that I don't think it is healthy for me. But the more he is on the better chance others will feel like I do and his numbers will fall even quicker than Wal-Mart's! lol

11. He came across as angry.
Totally pissed that those ingrates in Iraq haven't caved in to his democracy for them. Totally pissed that Lebanon has Hezbollah, and the UN troops aren't in there yet.
Pissed off and looking like he's lost when a question gets off his agenda. The only answers he has are the same tired old crap we've heard for the last 5 years. Stay the course, kill the troops, as long as I'm president. Arrrggghhhh!

19. You should have heard it on radio
Edited on Mon Aug-21-06 11:00 AM by Jeanette in FL
I had it on cspan radio and could not believe my ears. I didn't realize what a distraction it is to see him when he is talking. With just the audio, he sounded like a madman. There were so many pauses and the uhms and ahs. It was truly fightning.

It really sounded as if he were drunk.

29. Doesn't he do that pretty often?
I mean, I didn't see his comments this morning, but in my experience he acts like a gibbering moron on a semi-regular basis. He's gotten a little better over the years at not completely destroying his sentences, but he still manages to say something incredibly and obviously incoherent at least every third trip in front of a camera.

Why does he emphasis the wrong sylables and the wrong words in a sentence? I am listening but not watching, someone said it makes his issues more obvious.
