WHY are these reporters laughing at Bush??
Edited on Mon Aug-21-06 09:52 AM by sparosnare
They act as if they're at a comedy show. It is a comedy show of sorts, but the issues at hand are hardly worth a laugh when the idiot says something he thinks is funny. I hate him and I hate all of them.

Disgusting.

"We were attacked before we started the freedom agenda in the middle east." Trying to tie 9/11 to Iraq again.

"freedom agenda"?????

Yeah, it's either laugh or realize we are in a death spiral of madness with this man.

It's either that or cry over the fact that the idiot holds the position he does.

7. Why aren't MORE reporters laughing at Bush?
He is a comedy show. At least, it would be a comedy if the consequences of his presidency weren't so tragic.

9. I would like to think of it as "Indulging the dangerous lunatic"
Certainly you can imagine the scene: a brutal maniac holds a press conference. You have no choice but to attend. This brutal maniac can shut down your employer and "disappear" all of their employees -- including you -- for no reason other than that he has "war time powers." He makes a dumb joke that he obviously thinks is hysterical.

What do you do? Call him an idiot with a sophomoric sense of humor?

33. You do your job, that's what
You do your job- ask the questions and expect a serious answer. When he attempts to get by with his little jokes rather than give serious answers or he outright lies, you do NOT laugh with him (which is how the laughter interpretes). You IGNORE his joke and sit there seriously waiting for an answer. If there is none then some other reporter should ask the same g-d question.

These reporters have become nothing but Bush's enablers. A lot of our problems stem from the fact they have NEVER held Bush's feet to the fire- and that's the job they are supposed to be doing!

If more of them were professionals like Helen Thomas Bush wouldn't be able to get by with this shit of pretending he's a homespun nice guy.

15. They're trying out the new Rove tactic.
It's based on the old saying "All the world loves a clown". By inserting a laugh track into Bush's press conferences they hope to convince people that the Bush presidency is really more of a playful misadventure than a total unmitigated disaster.

23. I too am deeply offended given the catastrophes we are facing....
...it falls in the same category as laughing at a funeral in my book.

When there is an opportunity to pin down Bush on the depth and breadth of the problems we are facing, and what he is doing about it, these so-called White House Reporters become a comedy show audience for an arrogant intellectually impaired lightweight.

Every single news organization represented at that press conference by a laughing reporter needs their very own protest group outside their offices pointing out that not only is Bush destroying this country, but that they are helping him to do it by failing to do their job as established in the Constitution.

People dying .... public treasury being looted .... constitutional rights being denied ... and these dolts are laughing. Give me a break!!!!

On one hand, you got a madman-a sociopath!!!-destroying this country every which way he can and on the other you have a weak gawd damned ass kissing press who don't and won't do a damn thing to report the truth so that the public will be informed and start demanding something be done!

In the meantime, we all watch; waiting and wondering which day will be the day that it all goes to hell in a hand basket!

25. We are on a high-speed train without brakes
it seems there's nothing that can stop it as long as the government and the press work hand in hand against the people. After being clubbed over the head with JonBenet stuff all weekend and then this morning's absurd press conference, I have no reason to believe in accountability any longer. Not that I did, but today I feel even worse.

34. Nervous laughter when faced with a dangerous madman. He ridicules
them talking about how a reporter's "searsucker suit was a "wardrobe mistake" but he says he "hears that searsucker is coming back."

Reporters are afraid of him and when folks are afraid sometimes they break out in tittering laughter.

At least that's what it seemed to me. He was really at them today treating them like trash. I think most of these reporters are "trash" because if they'd done their job (like the wonderful Helen Thomas and April) the idiot Emperor would be gone by now ...but they are so cowered they laugh in fear.

43. I couldn't listen.
We had two channels at the cabin and dubby soaked up everything for quite a while. I don't know what he was so wordy about, but maybe cutting down the reporters and the laughter added to the length.

The whole weekend was about making John Mark Karr comfy and filled with fine wine and good eatin.
I got a very weird feeling that there is something else going on behind the scenes by the crime family that made all this jibberish make sense.
