Speaking on Iraq - "commanders on the ground" meaningless, too often repeated answer to everything

It is stunning to watch. He begins to answer a question, and when it occurs to him that he's lost and doesn't have an answer, he falls back to the old "these insurgents are people who will do anything to stop the growing democracy!" He is just freakin' clueless.

Edited on Mon Aug-21-06 10:55 AM by WinkyDink
"loss of life", to subliminally suggest "life" is just another object to lose, like car-keys.

And if it DID "bother" him, I can believe that is true---because there hasn't been ENOUGH DEAD YET to SATE him.
Bush always says what he means.

Edited on Mon Aug-21-06 11:07 AM by Solly Mack
point of saying "I listen to the commanders on the ground" (on whether or not to withdraw) is bunk. Bush makes that decision regardless of anything those commanders on the ground say

He can blame the commanders for lying to him later when the truth is, he doesn't listen to them

just another case of getting "bad intel" and how can it be Bush's fault if the so-called pro's are giving him bad intelligence. And we've seen how he uses that bullshit lie (WMD).

For a man that likes to boast he surrounds himself with smart people, he sure does get a lot of "bad intel" from these smart people

I've been talking about gas prices ever since they got high. It's like a hidden tax, not hidden, taking money out of people's pocket. All the more reason to diversify. encouraged hybrids, ethanol, asked for congress to pass for requlatory relief so we can build more refinerys. dependency on crude oil affects us here at home. Need to diversify.

"I made a promise to help the people there to recover...and they have to understand that it will take a while to recover...but it takes money...and the government has given 110 billion...and a lot of that went out the door to people for immediate help...we gave 1.8 billion to education and that money went out the door...we spent money on flood insurance...we got 17 billion dollars for direct housing grants..."

56. Katrina
first thing that is needed is money, 110 billion, a lot went out the door to help people adjust, and then there is rental assistance, infrastructure, Louisiana is slower than Mississippi. The money is available to remove that debree. 1.8 for ed. Schools are running, a lot are. Spending money on flood insurance. More work to be done. 17 billion for direct housing for people. I made the decision that each state should develop it's own plan. Same in Mississippi. I thought it best to have local plan. Each state developed its own plan. Area where people will see the most affect is CDBG. Was concerned at first about what would be appropriated, think $ is a strong commitment.

60. More hollow promises of aid? He must have thought it was a year ago.
I'd love to be able to remind him that of all the promises he made to the people who survived Katrina. I didn't see it but I'm willing to bet he wasn't called on those broken promises.

He better be careful what he promises to people. This time when he reneges they might just chase him with more than a FEMA trailer.

62. on N. Korea and lack of involvement in 6 party talks/ Cheney remarks
"We are very much involved in the 6 party talks"

On Cheney - linking Democrats to terrorists if Democrats are elected

Bush stutters and stumbles and says "it's a honest debate" (leaving Iraq and how that will cause terrorists to come to the US) and that talking about electing Democrats who want to leave Iraq means the terrorists win

"I would never criticize the patriotism of those who want to leave Iraq"

"The courts opinion on NSA was a terrible mistake...and those who heralding the decision don't see the world the way we do" (you can say that one again Chucklenuts - I for damn sure don't see the world the way you do))

69. Our blood should be boiling
There is NO reason for Lebanon OR Israel to continue getting a dime from us.

Aren't our own schools falling apart?

Why can't I afford to go to college?

Why can't any of my coworkers- federal employees, all- afford an education on what they make?

Look, I'm trying very hard not to seem isolationist, but.... why the hell are we giving these places so much fucking cash? It seems, lately, that we're spending far more money on other nations that don't deserve it one little bit than we are on our own country. And people (even here) cheer it.

YAY for Israel! Let's throw some money to help 'em out!

YAY for Lebanon! Let's get the kids to school on time!

While we scatter residents of NOLA to the four winds, and do everything possible to see to it they're permenantly displaced. While our own schools fall apart. While our own borders and the security at those borders functions as well as a seive. And on and fucking on.......

:grr:

do you care if people like your policies or doe sit even matter what the people think

Bush uses terror to answer "people want quick results...but terror is real...people want us to succeed in Iraq...never heard me say, gosh I need to change positions because the polls say this...I'm going to do what I think is right and if people don't like me for it, then that's just the way it is"

Israel would quit trying to impose themselves and their policies on these people with differing cultures and beliefs than those of the West, they'd keep to themselves and there is no reason to think that they wouldn't take full advantage of the UN in handling differences by diplomacy, rather than terror.

be freed up from fighting us over there and join up with Al Qaeda. If you don't believe it that's your right. But don't you dare lecture me like I'm five years old.

Think about us genious. The invasion certainly did create more terrorists. Right? Right. They are very happy to set roadside bombs to kill our servicepeople over there. So what if we leave? Do you think all will be forgiven or that some of them will find their way over here to continue the fight? Try not to be so certain and close-minded. REmember, Al Qaeda used to actually be our allies until we gave them reasons to be otherwise. Same thingt applies now.
