Things that make you go "Hmmmm."
Edited on Mon Aug-21-06 09:07 AM by woodsprite
:tinfoilhat: Was at a picnic over the weekend (DE) and someone mentioned they were camping, birdwatching and photographing birds down at Cape Henlopen (DE) and were stopped from taking pictures in a certain area. My cousin said that he hadn't noticed until this official looking person came out to him, then he started noticing things like wiring in the trees with cameras, etc. One of the picnickers said he lived down there and his company was hired to do a roofing job. First job he's done while under armed watch. He said the usual old run down bunkers were still there, except one had been renovated with new mechanical doors, etc. and it looked like some new barbed wire had been installed in the area. Sounds like Haliburton is in town.

Anyway, I got to thinking that my daughter's summer camp was supposed to go to Pea Patch Island (Fort Delaware) a few weeks ago. Apparently it had been planned for awhile (since May), but the trip was abruptly cancelled. Seems that Fort Delaware is going to be closed for historic rennovation/preservation at least until April 2007. The director of the camp was told that the information has been up on their webpage for awhile, but while he was talking to her, he had the page up and no information was listed about the closing. She told him that he obviously was having a problem understanding. Seems wierd. Their page is updated now, maybe things just "fell thru the cracks" on a revision of the web page. OR maybe my tinfoil hat was on too tight this weekend. Maybe some of that 'cajun koolaid' my brother made was getting to me.

I made some crack about they're probably putting new cell doors on the Fort Delaware dungeons. Everybody kinda just got real quiet and it really made some people think. For anyone who's interested, here's a map (civil war era) of the Fort. Up to 12,000 prisoners were held there during the Civil War.

Let's have a TinFoil Monday! :tinfoilhat:

Edited to say: Actually, the map is off of that page. I haven't successfully typed in the link without getting the whole huge graphic. :( Scroll to the bottom of the main fort page to get to the map.

Watch out for black SUVs in your neighborhood. Watch your back.

The map is @ www.del.net/org/fort - type in "/FtDEMap.jpg" after /fort
