as well as Iraq? Why aren't they if that is what is needed. They absolutely need such a thing in Iraq but no mention of Afghanistan, why not? Why do we need the largest and most luxurious Embassy in the world in Iraq? Why is this Nero type building even being built and why is no one reporting on it?

“Embassy Baghdad” will dwarf new U.S. embassies elsewhere, projects that typically cover 10 acres. The embassy’s 104 acres is six times larger than the United Nations compound in New York, and two-thirds the acreage of Washington’s National Mall.

Estimated cost of over $1 billion
Original cost estimates ranged over $1 billion, but Congress appropriated only $592 million in the emergency Iraq budget adopted last ye

7. Colonialism taught us when you build "forts", it is easier to be attacked
That is right, when you build a 104 acre Embassy the enemy does not have to go looking very far to find you and you stick out like a sore thumb to every insurgent who opposes you.

It is a failed policy to build such a complex, unless your purpose is to have armed conflict continue indefinitely. Plus it is an object lesson to the occupied that no matter what you say, your actions show you are never going to leave.
