I just read that we inject pigs with a proven carcinogen which is banned
in Canada, Australia, Brazil, the European Union and Japan.

Canada bans the use and is now debating on whether to ban all pork imports which have residuals of this Carbadox. See http://www.farmscape.com/f2ShowScript.aspx?i=22114&q=North+American+Pork+Producers+Express+Concern+Over+Proposed+Health+Canada+Ban+of+Carbadox

Of course the US is fighting this Canadian import ban claiming it is against the current FTAA agreement. The real question here is not a trade issue but

WHY ARE WE STILL USING IT! The answer is, of course, it is cheaper to use which means more profits to the factory farmers.

Just one more story not making headlines in the US media.

4. It's rare a day goes by that I don't see some story that makes me
intensely relieved to be vegan.

5. This shouldn't be too surprising

...once you know that like most other fedral agencies these days, the FDA is staffed largely by members of the food and drug industry themselves. So no more oversight. The fox is guarding the hen house. God knows what else they're allowing them to put into our food supply. I shiver to think it.
