Just curious, does any one else here work at the polls on election day.

I am a precinct judge, which means I run the show.

It is a hard job but someone as to do it, I am now getting all my clerks lined up.

I also work early voting, which is two weeks, every day working the election.

Sometime I think I am crazy for doing this, but it can be fun.

I have been working elections since I was 2 year old, my parents were judges for years.

Thank you for working, I wish more people would. It can be hard to get enough workers.

We really need more Democrat judges working at the polls.

2. Yes, I fended off the f&*(&^ republicans trying to disenfranchise

voters in the last election. Bastards, we had to call the election supervisor to the polling place. They stop at nothing.

8. I haven't had that problem yet but I might this year.

This year is the governor's election, the republicans don't like the idea of Chris Bell getting in.

I have a good crew, which makes it easy to keep my eyes on everything.

3. I've "sat a table" for some elections. Enjoy it a lot.

Short shifts though. I tend to ramble when I get tired and when I start saying stuff like "Thank you for participating in our basic responsibilty as citizens of a democracy!" I know it's time for a break. :7

7. We get paid here in Harris County in Texas, don't know about

other locations.

I will make a nice paycheck with all the little extras thrown in.

Working the polls is an important job.

I don't think most people know all the hard work that goes on before the election and after the election.

I will be taking time off of work and will be working early voting, now that's hard. We work everyday for 2 weeks, even weekends.

Beverly Kaufman's office to offer my services and no one ever got back to me.

13. To work an election for Harris County you have to live in Harris County.

I would check with the county you live in, they will need workers big time.

With time you could become a judge, we really need more democratic precinct judges.

If anyone can speak Spanish you can really get a job.

12. Poll watcher two years ago

I'll probably do it again this November. I was working with TruevoteMD.
The Repubs had poll watchers there but the Dems had no one.

She or he will get bored, I run the election by the book.

was Precinct Chief for a few elections while the regular one was ill. Now I'm a regular worker bee again. I enjoy it. A long damn day but worthwhile.


BTW, the chief in Virginia represents the Governor's party, the deputy represents the "other" party.

How do you get to be a judge?

22. You get to be a judge my running for the job, in my case no one wanted the

job so I was appointed my the county. If someone else had wanted the job our names would have been on the ballot at the election.


Here in Harris County it isn't that hard to be a precinct judge, many precincts do not have a judge at all.

It is best to work an election first, but it isn't necessary.

In Harris County we have a judge from both parties, but sometimes there is only one judge because there isn't someone interested in it. Being a precinct judge is entry level job but very important. I will be very busy with this election, the governor's race will be a hot one.

21. What is an Election Inspector?

On my new registration card it asked if I was interested in working as the above. It said it paid $160 per election. How many days does this entail?

I have two personal days off from work if it isn't any longer than that.
