7. You do understand that he most likely is not involved in the crime?
Also, he is being extradited to face charges. He is not convicted of anything. Why exactly ought he not be able to order any damn thing he wants on the menu?

I read it to mean that she was incredulous that Karr's choice of in-flight meal constitutes "breaking news".

Have we all forgotten that this man IS a prisoner? Nevermind the media thinks his lunch is newsworthy, he IS A PRISONER. He was indicted in California for having child porn. He was a no-show in court and was, in fact, on the lam, a fugitive.

Edited to add: Convicted or not, you and I wouldn't be eating pate and prawns.

58. Really?
I've flown a lot in my life--some of it internationally. My meals have always been pre-packaged plastic chicken--or, now that I'm veg, broccoli and crackers. I've never seen pate' OR prawns. In fact, I've never seen a MENU!!! But then, I've always flown coach.

So, my question is...is Mr. Creepy Guy flying 1st class? 'Cuz that just seems wrong.

67. If he's being deported, officials of the Thai government may be
escorting him back. That might explain first class, and also logistical reasons, perhaps. Maybe it is easier to hold onto a prisoner in first class.

At any rate, it's not worth making something of. But covering it on a news headline is ridiculous.

He sat in the main lobby of the air terminal with no handcuffs or leg irons - sounds almost like they would like to have another Lee Harvey Oswald incident.

5. Eventually the media packs up its tent and goes home...
...and when people stop watching, things can go sideways...quickly. Suddenly sex changes and jumbo shrimp are the least of one's concerns...

http://www.crimelibrary.com/serial_killers/notorious/dahmer/21.html

Dahmer, the model prisoner, convinced the prison authorities to allow him more contact with other inmates. He was able to eat in communal areas and he was given some janitorial work to do with other teams of inmates.

For some incredible reason, he was paired up with two highly dangerous men on a work detail: Jesse Anderson, a white man who had murdered his wife and blamed it on a black man, and Christopher Scarver, a black delusional schizophrenic who thought he was the son of God, who was in for first-degree murder. It's not difficult to imagine how Scarver viewed Jeff Dahmer, who had butchered so many black men, and Anderson. It was a disastrous combination.

On the morning of November 28, 1994, the guard left these three men alone to do their work. Twenty minutes later, the guards came back to find Dahmer's head crushed and Anderson's fatally injured body nearby. A bloody broom handle seemed to represent Scarver's statement on the subject. Jeffrey Dahmer was pronounced dead at 9:11 A.M.

88. I'm glad you brought this up
This demonization and dehumanization of criminals has disastrous results, but I really doubt most people care. Never mind the relevant fact he's being deported rather than extradited, anyone who seriously thinks the problem with the justice system is the fine dining is an ignorant fool. There's only one note publicly acceptable once someone even mentions pedophilia -- hysteria. Conversely, if you want to shut down discussion and send people into hysterics, just mention pedophilia and suddenly people are outraged and appalled over a fucking meal. I really hate talking about these issues concerning corrections and punishments. For some reason it really brings out the sadist in people.

10. It doesn't matter what happens to him. The story has done Rove's job ...
... in knocking other headlines off the front pages and cable news leads. Talking heads chattering about how a judge told Dictator Fuckstick that he was shredding the Constitution with his illegal wiretaps? No, not if there's a "sexy" story about some Kevin Spacey lookalike who claims he murdered Jon-Benet Ramsey, even though his ex-wife says he spent the 1996 Christmas holiday home with the family in Alabama, which would have necessitated a day of travel (by car, then by air) on December 25 to get from Alabama to the Denver metro area.

Who gives two shits what he ate on the plane? I'd rather see his banking records, and if there were any checks from the Ramsey family or Karl Rove.

49. You know how much more important this is than how
Edited on Sun Aug-20-06 03:41 PM by Cleita
many lives were lost in the Middle East today, and what the GOP is doing to dismantle our Constitution and laws that safeguard us.

Don't you know real news when you see it? Or are you one of those wacko, lefty, moonbats who just want to smear his divinity, our burning Bush..

56. Gov't pays single rate, regardless of class
Same way with a hotel; you can get a 5-star penthouse suite for the CONUS rate ($79 per night when I got out) if you play your cards right. The contracts are so big that the airlines and hotels gladly lose the extra $$ for the big ticket stuff to keep the lucrative day-to-day stuff they get.

Now, if only the GSA was allowed to use that same sort of bargaining with pharmaceutical companies, eh?

54. God I love good pate
And I think a review of the quality of the pate on the airline would have more news value than telling me that this guy ate it.

Are there any media outlets with good food reviews anymore?

76. He is a free man while he flies -- he was NOT extradited
Although many posters on many JB threads think he was. He was merely deported. When he lands, I'm positive he'll be arrested on the Sonoma charge only.

for the distraction he created in the media. :tinfoilhat: LOL

"It seems odd to me. If there is an arrest warrant issued, he ought to be under arrest," said former Adams County District Attorney Bob Grant, who was involved in the Ramsey investigation. "It is very strange. Whoever is in control of him ought to make sure he isn't doing things like drinking champagne."

Good actor too:

"The suspect was relaxed, smiling and chatting nonstop with the U.S. officials next to him until the television news crews on the flight turned their cameras on. Then he stopped smiling, clutched the armrests of his seat and stared at his lap. "

80. miranda warning?
maybe he wasn't technically in custody during the international flight.

anything he said to his escorts could then be used against him in court since he wasn't technically in custody.
