Since the US is no longer governed by Constitution but by "Unitary Executi
Is there any person you would want to be the next "Unitary Executive"? We are now being governed by a "Unitary Executive" just as was Germany during WW II and Iraq before our invasion. I personally do not like being ruled in this manner but I only have a single voice. It got me thinking , is there any person in the USA that I would not mind being ruled by in this manner. I could only think of one person off the top of my head and that would be Al Gore. Although I realize there has to be something wrong with any person who wants to be President (a very large ego) and that all politicians are sometimes less than truthful, I would still only pick Al Gore. I truly believe his heart is in the right place for the USA and the world and I know him to be a brilliant person. One who truly cares.

1. You've Got This ONE On Your (and President Gore's) Side
I will work full time to get him elected if he will only give us the nod of the head.

2. Well, I'm no Bush fan...but this is far from Nazi Germany.
There may be a few pieces of it here or there that are similar, but this isn't anything even remotely close to the Nazi regime.

And yes, Bush is bad, but the world has seen much worse. I don't believe Bush would even make the list of the worst 100. This world has seen a lot of extremely bad leaders over the past 6,000 years.

4. Where in my post was Bush* even mentioned
Edited on Sun Aug-20-06 09:42 AM by Toots
The concept of "Unitary Executive" is apparently completely lost on you. What exactly was Hitler if he was not "Unitary Executive"? How exactly does Dictator differ from "Unitary Executive"? Please explain that difference to me without mentioning Bush*. Or maybe how does Decider differ as well. We apparently now have a "Unitary Executive" that is "The Decider" and proudly proclaimed at that.

8. You made a reference to the current administration...
You said this....
"We are now being governed by a "Unitary Executive" just as was Germany during WW II and Iraq before our invasion."

You are saying that our government today is just like the kind of government in Germany during WW2. And maybe we could turn into that 30-50 years from now. Your vision of the future is just as legit as anyone's. But we are not like that today...

5. If the U.S. resembles Nazi Germany a few places here and there
I think we had better defend those other places with a passion.

6. No Its Not
This is very much like Nazi German, but not the Germany of 1940, its more like the Germany of 1936.

So its not a matter of likeness, its a matter of how far they have gone so far. Does anyone in their right mind think Bush will not go farther given the chance?

23. More like Germany, 1933
Hitler went about changing the rules, little by little, until the rules favored his rise to ultimate power. When he was at last appointed Chancellor by the German president, he began to consolidate his power further until, ultimately, he became the law.

In 1932, Germany was still a weak democracy. Hitler was elected as an ultra-nationalist who would restore Germany's pride.

7. The unitary executive's inner circle is comprised of universal fascists

(Straussians)-they are more than similar to the Third Reich in ideology as well as the pragmatic tactics, and their strategic goals are as evil. We are quite close to the totalitarian phase.

11. No, the "problem" is not that ALL of the conditions exist, is that there
literally THOUSANDS of valid similarities that can be made, or that any can be made AT ALL!

Never before has this been the case.

And it gets worse every fucking day.

Get your head out of your butt and smell the coffee instead of something else you're producing!

3. I don't think Gore would accept governing as a Unitary Executive
If I read him right, it would fly in the face of everything he believes about this country and the principles it was founded on.

As far as who I'd accept in that role, I can't think of one person. Not even my own father, who's a dear, sweet man and has my implicit trust. It's just not the way this country was meant to be run, for reasons which are obvious to anyone paying attention.

10. question
Isn't there anybody out there today made of the same cloth as our founding fathers?

Did they die with all the leadership and character and wisdom and leave none for the rest of history?

George Washington was offered king-hood and he turned it down because he wanted to stand behind the principles of our great Constitution!

Why are there no great people now standing up and fighting for these same principles George Washington did 225 years ago?

Isn't all this freedom "they" hate us for basically the principles of the Constitution? Shouldn't EVERYONE in modern public life embrace and love the principles explicit in this Constitution?

12. Those who are electable love money first
I think there are definitely Mr. Smith's out there (re Jimmy Stewart in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington), but they haven't the financial means to become viable candidates. And sadly as time has gone by, particularly since the SCOTUS granted corporations the same rights as individuals, money and powerful connections increasingly define who will be our politicians -- not ethics or love of country.

We're basically scraping the dog poo off the bottom of our shoes, electing it into government, and wondering why the place smells.

John Conyers came first to mind.
There are more.
There is each one of us. We are here. We just do not have the voice of the media, but we are here.

and I read from Al Gore that he is waiting for the right time to announce his candidacy. It would not be in his best interest to start the campaign so early, its still over two years out. methinks

16. I might pick somebody along the lines of Mikhail Gorbachev
He had that kind of power, yet let it go, so if the personality fit like that and it would be somebody who would get us back to a state of freedom because he believed in it and that's how we were meant to be - I think you may be right about Al Gore being one who is like that.

18. Definition: "Urinary Executive"
Urinary Executive or Urinary Authoritarian Executive (slang, DCspeak)

n., (en)title -- the "newly-discovered," or "inherent" (i.e., faith-based) Constitutional Authority for an appointed ruler (as opposed to elected leader) to piss down the back of the American People and tell them it's raining.

19. Are you saying All Gore has shown his willingness too ignore the
constitution and turn over the rains of power too a “Unitary Executive” as he did in the 2000 coup d'état / quote “election”, in witch the Supreme Court negated the will of the people and handed the country over to a handful of elite fascist… If so, I would also include every Democrat and Republican Senator and every congressman, who also had too violate there constitutional oaths in order to do nothing to stop it. Remember when, only one Senator’s signature was needed? And then the votes would have been counted. No need to mention that there fans still support and believe in them. But then who will be running the country and the planet is too much of an important decision to be left up to the American voters…

I like your post though; I think there could be a new T.V. reality show called, “Who wants to be the President”. First of all you would have to have a lot of money and no need for a job. Be willing too lie, steel, commit mass murder, and destroy the environment the economy other countries and ultimately the world. But you have to do all this while making your rich friends even richer…

I would hope if a Democrat gets the presidency in 2008 that he will do the honorable thing and dismantle all those laws that gave Bush this kind of power.
