the most astonishing poll I have ever seen. I assume the 38% are mostly white males. If we could only gather up these guys and send them to Baghdad. 10. I'm not sure regret has much to do with the poll.

The polling question has nothing to do with "regret" but simply asks if the loss of life has been "worth it". It's a subtle difference, but I imagine if "Do you regret..." had been asked, the results would look much different. It's a misleading title (and that's not your fault as they tacked regret into the title for reasons beyond me).

Nonetheless, the 38% who think that the loss of life has been worth it probably don't read the newspapers and watch Fox news (if they watch any news at all, that is). The simple fact of the matter is that Iraq is in far worse shape now than it was before the invasion. Utilities such as water and electricity remain below pre-war levels (despite all the contractors working to get them up to snuff), not to mention that sectarian violence is reaching new levels across the country.

Even if I agreed with the assertion that Saddam needed to be removed by us, I still wouldn't think the loss of life was "worth it" given the state of the country at present.

The question was not whether they thought it was a good idea 4 years ago when Bush made up all those lies. The question wasn't whether it was a good idea 2 years ago when Saddam was deposed and his 2 boys were killed.

The question is, today, has it been worth the loss of American lives? Completely ignoring the loss of non-American lives (and most Americans don't give a shit about amybody but themselves), it is utterly astounding that a single person could answer in the affirmative. This enterprise has just been one catastrophe after another, with no hope of improvement as long as America is involved. No matter how well justified one believes the war might have been, the war, such as it has been, was not worth a single life, American or otherwise.

The only thing worse than those 38% of sick fucks is the 6% who apparently aren't aware there is a war going on.

At what point does a war "become" wrong? What is standard?

I think many Americans would call the war justified, if oil were cheaper as a result o the invasion. Now that the price of gas is much higher, the war is wrong.

No wars are good, but some are justified, or at least thinking people can have a reasonable debate about the justification for some wars.

There has not been a single result from this Iraq invasion that has been good for America, good for Iraq, or good for anybody else, other than maybe Halliburton.

The only explanation I can see is there are almost 40% among us who are completely daft.
