Ann Coulter smokes and drinks,
and is more than likely not a virgin. Why do the RW Christians accept her?

1. Because she says the "right" things?
and for most pseudo-Christians saying the right things is more important than actually living the words.

3. She is a "cultural Christian"
That's where you don't believe in a religion, but know plenty about it and think it would be nice if it were true. That's good enough for lots of people.

6. ...and hormone shots. I talked to a hooker once
Edited on Sun Aug-20-06 01:04 AM by LibInTexas
quite innocently, I might add, after a long stint in a sky booth where I working during a Republican National Convention. I wanted a drink, and walked into a trendy place.

The woman sitting next to me started chatting. I was obviously (hummm) not going to be customer. She went on about where she was from (west coast) how she was trying to make enough $ to retire from hooking etc. I was fascinated.

But the one thing was, she said that I remember, was that she flew all over the country, and doesn't do too well with the Democrats. The Republicans were where the money was. And they were weird.

Coulter is a hooker icon for them. No doubt.

19. Someone speculated that was because most Dems
could get laid for free. It seems like every (OK, I admit that has to be a grand generalization) single lurid sex scandal involves Republiclowns. One has to admit, it is odd...

8. She also sleeps around
A few years back a talk show host was asking her about a statement she made about one night stands. Her reply was that she was not married. He asked her if she would go home with a man she met in a bar. She replied that she was not married. So I take it from her replies that she would go home with a stranger.

9. ...
I have to laugh over this; The most devout among them are the ones who always end up in jail or at the very least are the ones gambling, drinking to excess, having extramarital(sometimes gay)affairs, abusing their wives etc etc etc.

All is well come Sunday though where they can meet at Church and repent only to repeat the process the following week.

Why do they accept her!??Because she is a loud mouthed hypocrit just like the rest of them.

Hallelujah!Amen.

13. Depends on the right wing church
The one that I used to go to sent out a church bulletin condemning smoking and drinking as sins. All the smokers bitched about it, because they claimed there were no specific scriptures condemning smoking, as opposed to the few that DID make reference to drunkenness.

I countered with smoking obviously being a defilement of "your body as a temple of the Holy Spirit", since it's known to cause lung cancer, emphysema, heart disease, etc. While on the other hand, Christ's first miracle was to turn water into wine, and later referred to wine as His own blood, setting the example for communion ceremonies that many churches still observe to this day.

Not that church though. They use un-fermented grape juice. And they sided with the tobacco addicts. Hypocrites.

One of the many reasons I left said church.

21. not to mention
that iirc, monks invented beer

sure, there are some RW christians that think smoking and drinking are a sin. heck, there are probably some left wing christians who think the same

but imo, the op made kind of a weird comment since, in general, i think the majority of rw christians do not consider either a sin

23. beer was first purposely created in Egypt
Neolithic humans sometimes made it by accident.

http://www.orionbeer.co.jp/english/alacarte/kiso/

Beer is one of the oldest beverages humans have produced, dating back to at least the 5th millennium BC (prior even to writing), and recorded in the written history of Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. As almost any substance containing carbohydrates, namely sugar or starch, can naturally undergo fermentation, it is likely that beer-like beverages were independently invented among various cultures throughout the world.

Beer largely remained a homemaker's activity, made in the home in medieval times. By the 14th and 15th centuries, beermaking was gradually changing from a family-oriented activity to an artisan one, with pubs and monasteries brewing their own beer for mass consumption.

12. Sometimes I think the RW uses "Christian" as an ethnic term
I know many of these "Christians" - usually trying to play the victim by claiming that whites are persecuted or that Christianity is persecuted because the government does not represent a religion and force it on everyone in the nation. They don't observe the religion in the least.

They just want a Christian nation because the Muslims have Islamic theocracies and the Jews have a Jewish state and they are jealous. Blacks, Native Americans, etc., have identity as a race and ethnic group and so they want to belong to one too. It appears to them that the victim card gains power and so they want to play the victim too. I have heard white men go on in this vein - the poor white, straight men are blamed for everything and they are a minority, etc.

Also they have a need to hate other peoples by the group; somehow it helps them with their feelings of weakness and inferiority. So they have to belong to a group they can pretend it superior to other groups; preferably one they are born into so as to avoid effort in maintaining the group membership. Annthrax plays well to that. That she can go on TV and say all that stuff makes their otherwise embarrassing hatred of people by the group somewhat respectable, in their minds. Notice how they jump on the opportunity that has presented itself to hate Muslims. The political correctness that "victimizes" them by trying to slap them down when they say a racist thing about blacks, etc. is going easy on them when it comes to Arabs/Muslims and they are taking full advantage of it.

15. Because she speaks for Jesus
just like when he said that non-christians should be killed and their leaders converted to Christianity.

At least I think that's what Jesus said, haven't read my Bible in a while.
