Ex-Cheney Aide Denied Access to Documents in His Defense Case
http://www.news10.net/storyfull3.aspx?storyid=19446

<snip>

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A former White House official is being denied access to some classified material he wants for his defense case.

Lewis Libby, the vice president's former chief of staff, faces obstruction of justice and other charges. He allegedly lied about how he learned the identity of CIA operative Valerie Plame, as
well as what he told reporters about her.

Plame's identity was secret until her name turned up in a 2003 newspaper column, blowing her cover.

A federal judge is telling Libby he can't have certain documents he wants, which the judge calls "extremely sensitive." Siding with prosecutors and intelligence officials, the judge said disclosing the information could cause "serious if not grave damage" to national security.

Scooter just lost Round One.

I don't know about all of you, but I sure would like to know what's in those docs!

1. He's been thrown to the wolves . . .
But they're doing it in slow motion, to delay the time when they have to throw the next loyal staffer off the sleigh.

2. I'm not sure he lost.
I believe that it is his intention to have the court refuse access to documents and then claim that he can't defend himself without those documents. He loses if the judge rules, not just that he can't have the documents, but also, that he doesn't need them.

3. Nothing in those docs he actually needed. Requesting them was a PLOY.
A ploy which was predicted that he would use, right from the start,
as an attempt to get the charges dismissed.

I'm glad the judge isn't buying his bullshit.

4. Could a Presidential pardon be in his future?
