In the Aug. 12 Forum, Barry Barringer writes a letter about Democrats in which he accuses us all of being a) secularists,b) paganists, c) moral relativists, and d) dead. Literally – dead! I’d like to know how that works. Secularism and paganism you might be able to reconcile, and those two with moral relativism with a bit more difficulty, but how on earth can you be all of those things AND not alive? Talk about confused rhetoric.
But that’s not why I’m writing. I wanted to tell Barringer that if he’s interested in discussing Democratic versus Republican voting irregularities, I’d be more than happy to go point-for-point with him anytime. Perhaps he can start by telling us all how, in the 2004 election, George Bush received 4,258 votes in a precinct in Gahanna, Ohio, where only 638 people voted. We can go from there.
As I was writing this letter, a friend told me that Jim Hann had also recently written to The Forum. I honestly hadn’t noticed; Hann bashing liberals in The Forum is like the sound of the surf or the AC in a hot building – you notice it only when it stops.
Let me just say that if Hann is fascinated with Howard Dean’s statements, we can talk about canards from GOP mouthpieces even louder and more influential than Ken Mehlman and Ed Gillespie. Let’s start with Ann Coulter’s suggestion that liberals be executed, shall we?
