Simple question. How many Congressmen, Senators and Executive
Edited on Sat Aug-19-06 05:44 PM by Tom Yossarian Joad
Office people do you think are untouchable by huge sums of money via special interest/lobbying groups?

Me? I think that the system's been rigged for so long that anyone with a "Mr. Smith" morality would have no interest in being a politician.

Most folks don't like swimming in fouled waters.

Edited for excessive capitalization.

1. Well, neither of my
Senators or my Representative, are millionaires, and they've all been in politics for ages. However, this is Vt and it just doesn't take a gazillion dollars to be elected.

2. Not all special interests are bad.
The impact of labor groups and pro-choice groups on a politician is positive.

Dennis Kucinich gets money from labor, and his politics are great.

4. I support 100% public funding of campaigns.
I'm just saying that there are polticians like Dennis Kucinich within our current campaign financing system who aren't corrupt.

6. Politicians should be motivated by a desire to make things better
People like that would work non-profit. (virtue being it's own reward) But, power corrupts. That's one reason I admire rich Democrats. They are serving the party of their money, they are serving the people.
