I guess all we get from all that hub-bub is Scooter - and most likely a not-guilty verdict huh?

Something tells me he buckled.

1. No Access to the Case for the Media
Edited on Sat Aug-19-06 05:19 PM by stepnw1f
Nobody really knows what's going on. Just lot's of speculation... funny thing I noticed, is the up-tick on people asking about the case.

Right now I'm more interested in the Civil Suit.

At least that is what I thought. Do you have a link to the article that goes into this more? Now I'd like to know as well.

Yeah - that should be good. But most info I've heard says that will take years before anything happens. I was hoping we'd get some criminal action sooner. It sure feels like it was hot hot hot - and now really cold.

10. This is Just a Guess
but Bush may see a few more Civil Cases.... the more the merrier. I hope he is haunted till the end of his days for what he has done. I'm pretty sure he will not get away with the damage he has created around the World.

>funny thing I noticed, is the up-tick on people asking about the case.<

Someone will mention Patrick Fitzgerald and the Plame case, then there'll be the usual accusations of his "buckling" or "being bought off", not to mention various insinuations about him or his character. I wonder what that's all about?

In the meantime, there was actually some activity in the CIA leak case the day before yesterday. Let me give those who are interested in learning about it the link for more information, straight from the AP: http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/C/CIA_LEAK?SITE=ININS&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT . The short version? Scooter Libby's defense team was denied access to documents he claimed he needed for his defense that are so sensitive to the national security of the United States, the judge denied his request. If you're interested in analysis, please go to http://www.firedoglake.com/2006/08/19/libby-judge-restricts-classified-doc-access-other-news/#more-4068 for more information.

Since it's not a Patrick Fitzgerald thread without a photograph, here's one:

12. Judge "USE ESPIONAGE LAWS" Rosen and Weissman AIPAC
Related case may bring some news

Broad ruling clears way for spy trial
WASHINGTON, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- An Alexandria, Va., federal judge, in a ruling with potentially broad implications, has cleared the way for the trial of two pro-Israel lobbyists.

U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis III said the U.S. government could use espionage laws to prosecute a private citizen who gained access to national defense data.

The Los Angeles Times said the decision may be the first that says citizens other than government employees can be charged for receiving and disclosing such information. Some saw a possible problem for advocates, reporters and other information gatherers.

The ruling specifically opens the way for Steven J. Rosen and Keith Weissman, former officials of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee,to stand trial.

They were indicted last year on charges of conspiring to obtain information about Iran and other Middle East nations from Pentagon analyst Lawrence A. Franklin. Franklin, who pleaded guilty to passing government secrets, was sentenced to more than 12 years in prison.
