The United States of Sheeple

My partner and I heatedly discuss the state of affairs in this country several times a day - Mind you, we are both of the same progressive political persuasion.

Her position is that we need to leave the US because the majority of the folks on this ship are fools. I agree with the fools thing, but my position is that fools are easily led. - Witness * & Company.

Although I am not proud of it, I very easily lead her Repug, Faux watching, RNC contributing, BIGOT father every single day. My better senses tell me that I am being manipulative, but it struck me today that this man will/would do ANYTHING for me because I am kind to him - I lead with kindness.

This administration leads the Sheeple with fear, and it seems to work. Is there any reason at all that we (Dems) cannot lead the folks, a *mite* better, with the kindness of health care, strong social services, etc. for all? Or will the DLC Corporate Welfare types never let our progressive ideas shine through?

1. Remember the Story About the Scorpion?

a Dog and a Scorpion were facing a river. "Carry me on your back, Dog and we can both get across safely," the Scorpion said.

"If I do that, you will sting me, and we will both drown," replied the Dog.

"Now be sensible, Dog. I wouldn't do that! Just give me a hand here," replied Scorpion.

So the Dog let the Scorpion climb up his back and proceeded to swim the river.

Halfway across, the Scorpion stung the Dog with a deadly quantity of poison. The Dog moaned, as he sank beneath the waves, "Why did you do that?"

The Scorpion said, nonchalant, "You knew I was a Scorpion when we met."

7. No one who thinks of other human beings as "Sheeple" is progressive

nor are they anywhere near as smart, gifted, or special as they imagine themselves to be. This kind of elitist garbage is unamerican and disgusting.

On edit: if your post is sincere, which on rereading I have reason to doubt. Oh well, it won't have been the first time I've got my buttons pushed and responded too fast.
