6. I love the idea of
creating jobs by creating a renewable/alternative energy industry. Yea, yea. I know it already exists, but it has been held under-thumb by Big Oil. But making it a meaningful and purposeful effort sounds really damn good for me.

So far, I'm liking what Howie's layin' down!

11. Kicking this...no attention being given to this meeting. Recommended.
DU has ignored it, posts about it at DailyKos, and even the smaller boards that we consider Democratic in nature are just totally ignoring the meeting.

I have seen newspaper write-ups about it, but nothing on TV at all.

I hope others will recommend this thread.

There are videos and write-ups up at the DNC website.

At any Democratic forums. It is a meeting, true, just a meeting. But almost no discussion about it anywhere.

Ohio SOS candidate, Jennifer Brunner talked about every aspect of the problems/fraud in Ohio, including Diebold and Blackwell's ties to Diebold. She really was amazing.

18. From the special meeting on voter protection...Jenny Greenleaf.
http://mydd.com/story/2006/8/19/14142/9328

The DNC held a special session on voter protection. Don't for a minute think that Democrats don't get it on this crucial issue.

One key component is the DNC National Lawyer's Council. Here's what they're doing:

Stage 1:
Identify problem areas.

Examine ballots for problems (like the butterfly) prior to the election.

Establish systems for citizens, party officials, and others to report problems.

Designate state lead election protection attorneys.
Stage 2:
Put together recruiting operation.
Arrange for a desk and phone at local party headquarters.

Use volunteers to call through a list of attorneys to find those willing to work.

Have press conferences and events to highlight problems.

Stage 3:
Distribute election day Q and A matrices and lawyers manuals on the web and to county counsels.

Arrange for election day state and regional war rooms.

Arrange for hotline numbers for use by precinct and other assigned lawyers.

Prepare logic and accuracy testing protocols for laypersons to use on voting machines in targeted jurisdictions in each state for each type of voting machine used.

Have a lawyer prepared to go to court immediately if litigation is necessary.

Have an experienced person located at county elections with a cell phone

Election Day:

Lit drop the Voters Bill of Rights in selected targeted precincts based on history and reports of issues. Arrange for distribution to community centers.

Be ready for citizens to report problems on the 1-888-Dems-Vote line. Empower citizens to find the problems.

Staff the hotline with people who can route the request or problem report directly to the local election protection attorney.

More:
http://mydd.com/story/2006/8/19/14142/9328

"Post-Election Day:
Be ready for a recount, Don't let key staff disappear. Realize you're going to need money if you have to recount. Also, don't forget that there's GOTV you can do after the fact. It was the recounted rejected absentee ballots in Washington that won the governor's race."

21. ABC news write-up about the nominating calendar voted on today.
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=2332890

CHICAGO Aug 19, 2006 (AP)— "Democrats agreed to shake up tradition Saturday by wedging Nevada between Iowa's leadoff caucuses and the New Hampshire primary in the 2008 presidential nominating calendar and adding South Carolina soon afterward.

The addition of Nevada's caucuses and the South Carolina primary to a presidential calendar long dominated by Iowa and New Hampshire is intended to give a greater voice to Hispanics and blacks minorities critical to Democrats' success.

Nevada has a sizable Hispanic population while South Carolina has a high concentration of black voters. The early contests in those states will give Democrats more prominence in the Southeast and the Southwest, regions that tend to support Republicans.

Advocates of the plan passed on a voice vote by the Democratic National Comittee say it will force Democratic candidates for the White House to develop a broader message that extends beyond the concerns of voters in Iowa or New Hampshire."

26. I only got to see the last 40 minutes or so...
I thought our candidate for Ohio SOS was great and understood the issues well. And then, wow, Jessie Jackson!! :woohoo:

Jessie went to town. I loved how he talked about the Lamont race, that when you are on a team you play for that team. I loved it when he asked what cheney & bush*s interest was to be in our huddle! Jessie had me cheering!! :applause:

28. Re-Airs at 3:45 today, and Dean's speech tomorrow after Road to WH
Also an airing early morning Sunday. I did not catch the exact time.

I was impressed by Phil Murphy. He is a larger donor person, and he said he is seeing huge support for Dean's strategy throughout the country.

seventy conference meetings (or so it seems) Jesus himself would be hard pressed to get anyone to cheer.
