2. Thank him for me
Thank him for standing his ground and doing what his wife wanted. My mom was in and out of comas for close to three months before she died. She reminded us each time that she "came to" that she didn't want to be brought back. She entered the hospital for one ailment and they discovered an invasive form of cancer. She knew, that if she lived, she would spend the rest of her life fighting the cancer in the hospital. She told us that she didn't want to put us through it and, she said, she was in so much pain that she couldn't take it. She did it because she loved us. And we refused to revive her when she died because we loved her. Some of my mom's relatives are still pissed at us.

What happened to my family in no way compares what Michael Shiavo went through but I understand how painful and heart wrenching the decision is. He came through his ordeal knowing he did what his wife wanted. He did it because he loved her and wanted to carry out her wishes. I admire him for his courage.
