to be on its cover. I wonder how often they drag him out to prove some "moral" point or other. At least they never show his fascist freak son Franklin.
Please correct me if I am wrong but the Democrats were the socially conservative party in the 50's. I don't buy it with the little I know about this particular subject. I don't mean to compare Joe Scarborough and Billy Graham but I do find these two individuals' political activities very similar in nature. I just ask because I had informed my mother, who has never voted for a democrat, that Billy Graham was a democrat and she did not know what to say. She won't talk to me about these matters and she really likes Billy.
And you read in the article he was close enough to Martin L. King Jr. to call him "Mike." I don't know all his political actions, I found it to be a good article.
4. It read like he was trying to ameliorate what he has wrought
He's trying to somehow distance himself from the televangelist/fundy craziness that he spawned.
I live in Wheaton Illinois and the shrine Billy Graham has built for himself at Wheaton College is really edifying. His messianic streak was/is hugely ambitious and Newsweek's softpedaling his role in building the religious reichwing is deceptive and duplicitous.
Franklin is the product of the father, make no mistake about that.
