By Tabassum Zakaria

CAMP DAVID, Md (Reuters) - President George W. Bush on Friday warned that North Korea would pose a threat to the world if it tested a nuclear bomb for the first time, following reports that the reclusive government was considering such a move.

Bush also pressed participants in six-party talks to persuade North Korea to give up its nuclear-weapons program, while a senior U.S. official played down the chances of an early nuclear test.

"If North Korea were to conduct a test, it's just a constant reminder for people in the neighbourhood, in particular, that North Korea poses a threat," Bush said at the Camp David presidential retreat. "We expect our friends and those sitting around the table with us to act in such a manner as to help rid the world of the threat."

ABC News on Thursday reported that a U.S. intelligence agency had observed suspicious vehicle movement at a suspected North Korean test site. It quoted an unidentified senior State Department official saying a test was a "real possibility."

8. I think we should leave NK alone - Lil Kim can have his toys.
and we should cut and run from Iraq as fast as we can.

But that's just me.

6. There was a vague report last year of a mushroom cloud over N. Korea
I didn't follow up on it to be honest.

10. Yea, I think that's what I'm thinking of...
NK claimed it was an accident, a railroad
train carrying explosives that blew up, but
no one really believed that story.

And they refused all offers of humanitarian aid to
the "accident" site, even from the nations they
usually have relations with, like China.

I guess I just ASSUMED that incident was a Nuke test.

15. Actually I believe it was two different incidents?
Edited on Fri Aug-18-06 05:30 PM by NNN0LHI
One was the train that the NK leader had passed near blew up and then there was another explosion reported to be in a fairly uninhabited area known for storing military explosives. I am going strictly from memory hear and sometimes that isn't too good so...

4. Bush wants war with NK????
There would be tens of thousands of civilian casualties on the Korean Peninsula (both North and South).

Thousands of US and N/S Korean military casualties.

And a more than good chance of a bio/chemical (nuclear??) missile strike against US military facilities in Japan.

Are you ready for all that Great Decider????
