Dow Chemical: We Don't Kill People Any More!
Has anyone seen the treacly new ad campaign for Dow Chemical, where they claim to love all humanity?

"The Human Element" campaign (you can see the ad here: http://customepk.com/dowhucampaign ) washes Dow Chemical in a feel-good pantina of progressive humanitarian love of their fellow man accompanied by a nice violin track. They even feature some brown-skinned people in their advertising campaign, although the lack of Indian nationals is striking (google Dow Chemical and Bhopal for an explanation).

They also fail to feature any Vietnamese nationals in their homage to humanity:

Their press release for this new ad brings a tear to the eye, unless you know the history of this industrial killing machine:

The Human Element advertising creative was developed featuring real people rather than professional actors and includes dramatic environmental and human imagery (a blacksmith in Mexico, children at an orphanage in Namibia, an artist in his studio in Prague) gathered on location in four continents.

..."Dow's Human Elements campaign is about reconnecting the company with the faces and values of the people Dow touches in a positive way."

Yes, Dow Chemical is now going to solve global warming, feed the hungry, hug puppies and promise not to kill huge population swaths in the future...maybe.

1. They had another cheesy ad in 1975 or 76
Adorable college grads in caps & gowns all saying:

"I'm going to work for DOW."

Too bad we didn't have the internet then.
