Uh oh. Has the BA Leaked Critical Intel From the Brit Air Scare Plot?
Edited on Fri Aug-18-06 12:47 PM by elehhhhna
"Two. . . U.S. counterterrorism officials, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the investigation, said the British suspects placed calls to several cities in the United States before their arrests. At least some of the calls were placed to people in New York, Washington, Chicago and Detroit, one official said. The suspects are all British citizens, mostly men in the 20s and 30s of Pakistani descent." AP story

Now, that appears to be remarkably specific intelligence leaked from within an ongoing terror investigation -- classified information that could not only reveal sources and methods, but also tip off possible suspects before the Feds got to them.

This "liquid terror" plot has been alleged to have been a serious and immediate threat. Yet almost a week has passed without any comment from the administration about this published account. No one's called the AP a bunch of traitors. No investigations have been launched. The White House has not condemned the leak or blamed it for possibly costing American lives.

So, why not?

1. Lemme guess.
Because it supports the need for the "wiretapping" program. Hmm, this is fun!

6. Does it negate the need for WARRANTS?
They can wiretap (right now) all they like, as long as they get a warrant (today, tomorrow or Sunday)

7. It doesn't need to make sense.
It just needs to sound good in a 5 second sound bite / rant by dubya on CNN.

2. Because they have already gotten as much out of this "terror
threat" as they needed or was likely to get. Therefore, it is old news...

3. Have there been any arrests of these contacts?
I believe the admin's biggest concern is that their "intelligence" will be interrupted on the "participants" in the upcoming election. Would their concern and scrambling to react to the suit filed yesterday be the same on, say, November 10th? Just askin'.

4. The government knows this case is bogus and has distanced themselves
from it. It's only value from here on out is to ann coulter & AM rw radio who will use it for years even though it will be totally discredited.

5. Because it plays so sweetly into their hands?
Now they will be able to use this to further smear that "liberal, activist, Jimmy Carter appointed" trial lawyer that recently had the gall to tell the pretzledent he was not above the law, and that he violated his oath of office and the Constitution.

All you've heard from the "wingers" since the NSA ruling is that the "liberals are again coddling Osama Bin Forgotten, and that we can't even wiretap Osama's driver". Of course, the whole part about obtaining a warrant, etc is lost in the foam. The fact that the pretzledent can wiretap whoever he fucking chooses to and has 7-10 days to notify the FISA court that he has is lost in the foam. The fact that the FISA court has rejected only ONE SUCH EMERGENCY WIRETAP IN IT'S ENTIRE EXISTENCE is lost in the foam. The fact that he could easily have gone to his lap-dog Congress and gotten the law changed is lost in the foam.

No, what he did was ILLEGAL. What he did was VIOLATE HIS OATH OF OFFICE. They're going to say that the "only way the UK terror plot was busted was because of illegal wire-taps, and now the liberals have made us weaker".

It's as clear as the nose on my face.

Now read this again, and I've highlighted the "good parts".

"At least some of the calls were placed to people in New York, Washington, Chicago and Detroit, one official said."

See, "DemoncRATS" just love the "terrist", and if it weren't for manly men like Dick and George, we'd all be dead right now. :sarcasm: (if it's needed)

Fear is such a good motivator, isn't it?
