Isn't it wierd about the Connecticut senatorial election?
The Republicans aren't worried about Lieberman taking votes away from their own candidate. What they're worried about is their own candidate drawing votes from their favorite, Lieberman. How f'ed up is that?

I suppose then they have two possible plans:

1. Woo Lieberman to switch parties. I think this is unlikely - it would be WAY too much of an admission by Lieberman of his political beliefs.

or

2. Retain their own candidate, but do their best to sabotage and stifle his campaign.

This is definitely one of the wierdest political plays I've ever seen.

1. The republican candidate is wrapped up in some legal scandal...
...and will likely end up worse than Delay. So, if they can't win the election with a strong candidate, they go to Plan B: win the election by making the competition lose. Joementum has, in many ways, been more loyal to this administration than a number of republican congressmen, at least on key issues.

2. Odder still, how the Corp Media delicately massages the situation by
labeling Liberman's play for 'indepedent' voters and completely COMPLETELY ignoring the WH's and Pubby Party's lack of support for their own Pubby candidate.

The Corp Media is really showing their true colors lately!!!!

3. It should be showing real hard-line repubs
that they care more about winning and retaining power than the issues they purport to care about. Wonder if any of them are waking up?
