Gilda Radner played a character on SNL back in the 70's where she would take information and turn it completely on its head. After much consternation and explanation, someone would explain to her that it was really about something else. Her short response: "Nevermind"...

Two days ago, the media exploited for 2 or 3 hours as breaking news that a possible terrorist had scissors and Vaseline and matches and could possibly blow up a plane. It was breaking news - with the screens running across the bottom of the TV. Then yesterday they had an incident where they thought they had discovered some explosives or something that goes Ka-Boom! and found out that it was a harmless detergent or something totally unnewsworthy. What did they say? "Nevermind"...

The desire to scoop other stations (I guess that's the motivation) causes them to report any damn thing before anyone knows what the hell is going on.

No one can believe anything they hear anymore, and that's really really bad.

Rosanne Rosanna Danna, and was quoting her by name a few days ago. I didn't really believe I was wrong until seeing the script/transcript from the show.

So you are not alone in your cerebral short-circuiting. Not that this helps any. No fun, is it.
