She's a trustee there. I don't know which department to write to, however.

Thanks for this post. The more the merrier!

the issue. Stand up for the law. The judge is not the issue.

Support the law.

11. YOU MIGHT LOOK AT THIS AND SEE WHAT FREEPERS DID
TO ANOTHER JUDGE...

http://www.crooksandliars.com/posts/2006/08/17/judge-anna-diggs-taylor-please-meet-judge-george-w-greer/
Judge Anna Diggs Taylor will receive some of the same kind of treatment that Circuit Court Judge George W. Greer in Pinellas County, Fla, did during the Terri Schiavo saga.

Greer has been described as a "compassionate conservative" and a deeply religious man — yet he has become the radical anti-abortion movement’s public enemy number one. He has been at the center of controversy for seven years now because the case involving Terri Schiavo happened to end up in his court. The New York Times ran a front-page piece on Greer the other day. This is a judge who has been forced to make some tough decisions. Throughout the ordeal, one never got the impression that his opinions were anything but carefully weighed and deliberated. He has always treated both sides with civility and respect. And although he must be frustrated over the Florida legislature’s constant grandstanding over this issue, Judge Greer has remained cool and calm on the bench.

Randall Terry, an anti-abortion activist who has a very dark past (Read WOC for background) said that judge Greer just wanted her dead. So I’m sure that’s what we’ll be hearing about Judge Taylor.

Greenwald has compiled some of the right wing vitriol directed at her in his last update:

She wrote: "There are no hereditary kings in America and no powers not created by the Constitution."

BTW, that was the headline on today's The Oregonian, which was very cool of them.

15. Exactly.
That's what the Repugs do - they go after the Judge when they don't agree with the law. It's the LAW; not the Judge.

(I was particularly OUTRAGED when Jeffrey Toobin on Lou Dobbs last night said "a LIBERAL Judge ruled...." in regard to the ruling.)

19. Apparently CNN's Legal Expert (TOBIN) doesn't remember--he pounded home
the point that she is a LIBERAL judge that cited LIBERAL cases.

So much for unbiased reported of a LEGAL decision -- CNN sticks to the LIBERAL decision mantra.

26. hmm i just sent my absentee ballot in ..i had to vote for 6 judges..
Edited on Sat Aug-19-06 12:28 AM by flyarm
so if i have to vote for them i would say that is somewhat political...

and when congress people or senators do a lousy job and do not follow my laws of my land..i let them have it..when they do follow the rule of law and do their job..i also applaud them and let them know it..

in this case..this judge did her job..and she stood for the law of my land..and i will sure as hell let her know i appreciate it. I will thank her that she did follow the law..and that is of the utmost importance to me

and i also wrote to ( in my county) a conservative judge some time ago, who also stood for the law of the land and the rule of law..and that was on the teri schiavo case.

the same judge who got numerous death threats...

and he wrote me back..and thanked me for my support..and said simply that he respected the law of this land.

i do believe we vote them on the bench and we owe them a thank you when they do the job.. we politically vote them on the bench for..to follow and respect our law, and our constitution.

but i have been on 5 juries , of which 2 times i have been an alternate and sat in the judges chambers and gotten to talk in long periods with judges..they are people too..

they know when they have a tough case..and they worry like all of us do..that they are doing the right job..and that they are protecting our laws.

i never thought i would see the day that a President OF THE UNITED STATES would stand before the American people and say a judge should shit on the constitution and reach a decision not based on the rule of law..but on the "world we live in"

well i just wonder how our forefathers would think of that..did they not have a pretty unsettled world? how about other presidents..ones that faced world wars..and Nazi regimes..dual wars on two opposite sides of the world..did they have to shit on the constitution to protect us ?

i think not...

i just wish little lord pissy pants would read a damn history book..and know how important our constitution is to real democracy..and not think, that THAT incredible document was just a piece of toilet paper for him to shit on!

28. I Agree On The Political Aspects Of Your Post, But I Still Don't Like
mixing judges with politics. That's just me. I expect judges to uphold the law of the land and if I started treating each instance of them doing so like it was something so stellar I'd feel like I was undermining that concept because it would be in essence stating that we now expect judges to NOT uphold the rule of the land and that it is exceptional and praise worthy when one does. But I don't agree that's the case, and though the SC is slowly but surely being stacked, overall judges in this country are still overwhelmingly objective and uphold the rules of law. So I'm not ready to treat it as an exceptional act at this time.

But even aside from that, I firmly believe judges need to be completely impartial in relation to politics and any case such as this that gets split down the middle emails and phonecalls sends the message that the judiciary is taking sides with politics. Some will claim that politics has nothing to do with it, and that their praise is for the judge following the law and not because of a decision that we consider a victory for our side. But I think they're fooling themselves if they truly believe that, and the reason I say that is when was the last time we were asked here to send a letter to some regular judge in some town somewhere that upheld the law in a case that had nothing to do with politics whatsoever? The fact is, we only get passionate enough to send the emails and phonecalls when it is a decision that affects us politically... ...and like I said, I don't want to mix politics with judges.

29. under the republican umbrella they have made all judges
Edited on Sat Aug-19-06 01:47 PM by flyarm
political..

for the 2004 election and the upcoming election i did goggle searches on all the judge nominees..

in 2004 i ran off all the backgrounds on all the judges and posted them huge in the kerry headquarters in my county in Fla...

no one had ever seen anything like it..but as far as pissy pants goes..this is the world we now live in..because of republicans and pissy pants...

before just voting, i did a similar background check on all the judges on my absentee ballot..my son was shocked that i would know all about the judges..well you know what..that is all of our responsibility..

in my youth i would just pick judges by party..no more..in pissy pants world..i will know each and every one of the judges i vote for..

it now is political to me..especially when a president of my country villifies a sitting judge and his sheeple followers threaten their lives and the AG does nothing about it!

they throw their temper tantrums when they do not get their way shitting on our constitution..well now they will have me to contend with!

I don't believe that a great legal mind was required to decide the domestic wiretapping case--to me, the Constitution is as clear as a bell on the issue. But I do believe that deciding it in the face of intense political pressure from an aspiring monarchy took great legal gonads, for which I thank you. "They hate us for our freedoms, " Mr. Bush says. "We" aid and abet "them" when we allow them to be taken away.
