Labour agrees: Bush is crap
The Independent asked a group of Labour MPs what they though of John Prescott's outburst

Ian Davidson Glasgow South West MP

"I think that John Prescott is to be commended for the quality of his political analysis. His comment on American policy is brief and accurate. Britain has got to ensure that it is no longer seen as simply being the glove puppet of the United States."

Glenda Jackson Hampstead and Highgate MP

"I entirely endorse his view. This is why Parliament should be recalled. This government is failing miserably as far as our approach towards the Middle East is concerned. We are simply... bag carriers for Bush and all his policies have been a disaster."

David Crausby Bolton North East MP

"One of the most disappointing aspects of the Iraq resolution is that we stuck our neck out and supported the Americans... on the understanding that the road map would be there but it's not been delivered at all. It's virtually been forgotten."

Ann Cryer Keighley MP

"I have no doubt that there is a very large number of Labour MPs who will be agreeing with what John Prescott is alleged to have said. I agree with it. There is huge concern and this goes right across the Labour back bench."

16. Well at least over the pond
Politicians aren't afraid of calling it like it is and standing behind their words. Nice to see -unlike Canadian politicians who fall all over themselves in a tizzy trying to apologize to the US for Carolyn Parrish's remarks or 'Bush is a moron' remarks from the PMO's office.

Prescott's slur on Bush as 'cowboy' wins support from back-benches
JOHN Prescott waded into a fresh row yesterday after he reportedly denounced George Bush's efforts in the Middle East as "crap" and called him a "cowboy". The Deputy Prime Minister denied the remarks, but they won the beleaguered minister some much-needed support from back-bench MPs.

While such criticism of Tony Blair's main ally would have infuriated No 10, Mr Prescott's intervention may have unwittingly helped him buy time to stay in his highly paid job.

Harry Cohen, Labour MP for Leyton and Wanstead, said Mr Prescott's comments on president Bush's efforts on the peace road map were made at a meeting with MPs on Tuesday.

(snip)
Neil Gerrard, Labour MP for Walthamstow, would not confirm the remark, but said describing United States policy in such a way "might well" go down positively among Labour back-benchers.

20. "I've been called a lot worse." DU gets the gold star for that: *.
*A footnote in the history of human progress, barely worth a mention except for the innocent people he slaughtered and tortured, and the rebirth of democracy, humanism and Constitutional government that occurred after his tyrannical reign. A crowd of 2.2 million citizens gathered in Washington DC, in 2007 AD, to celebrate his removal, after he was dragged from the White House in a drunken stupor and flown to a private clinic in Qatar. Their famous circles of paper ballots around the White House and "raspberry for peace" was the most notable event of his reign. Many soundtracks are extant. It is often played at political rallies as a reminder to candidates for public office that they can now easily be replaced.
