CAFFERTY IS THE SHIT!!
Edited on Thu Aug-17-06 03:26 PM by Texas Explorer
Jack Cafferty is our hero. FINALLY, someone says it with feeling on the air!

PLEASE! PLEASE! If someone go that on video, please get a link to us.

I fear he may have just sacrificed himself to say what he said. I love you Jack Cafferty.

It's great that you all agree Jack is the shit. But so far there are two threads about it, all full of "atta boy, Jacks!" and not a single one mentioning a single word of what Jack said.

*sigh*

21. Sorry, I tend to forget
that some of you can't watch for whatever reason.

Jack Cafferty on CNN just blasted the Bush administration, calling for their ouster.

You can learn more by following the thread. Some other comments he made are posted here and we're trying to get a video.

I will try to remember not to be so cryptic to those of you who don't have access to a TV at work.

Edited on Thu Aug-17-06 03:36 PM by karlrschneider
Damn, all the DUers will bitch for a link but there ain't one. I can replay the TIVO and type it out but that will take a while...

I typed it out from the TIVO.

My transcript:

Wolf, it seems like we're having this discussion about this judge's ruling sort of in the abstract, as if there's no precedent for what the judge decided. The judge in effect upheld the ruling of the FISA court which says if you want to wiretap phones, you need a warrant to do so.

The court was created by congress in 1978, I think it was, and the law of the land says Get a Warrant. The actions of the administration have ignored the law of the land in that regard so it's not a discussion in the abstract, it's not hypothetical there are laws on the books against what the administration is doing. And it's about time somebody said it out loud - This federal district judge ruled today, President Bush is breaking the law by
spying on people in this country without a warrant. The judge said the president is violating the First amendment, the Fourth amendment and the FISA passed by congress specifically to prevent this kind of abuse of power. It was being done before; that is why
the FISA court was created in the first place. So what does this mean? It means president Bush violated his oath of office when he swore to support the Constitution of the United States! It means he's been lying to us about the program since it started when he said there was nothing illegal about what he's been doing; the court says it IS illegal.

It means a 75 year old black female judge in Michigan has finally stepped up to do the job that Congress is supposed to do, namely oversight of the Executive branch of government.

But the congress is controlled by the Republicans and they are controlled by the president and they've done nothing in the way of oversight. I hope it means the arrogant inner circle of 1600 Penn avenue may finally have to start answering to the people who OWN that address...that would be US...about how they conduct our country's affairs.

Here's the question, What does the federal judge's ruling that the NSA spying program is
illegal mean for Bush?

14. Did anyone notice how Leslie was taken aback? He just didn't
know how to respond. He knew that Cafferty had just handed him his ass because NOT ONCE in the discussion on the judge's ruling did Leslie offer that this WAS ALREADY THE LAW AND THE JUDGE RULED CORRECTLY. Leslie was just an apologist for Chucklenuts & Gonzo and pretended that the judge was very liberal and appointed by Carter.

Everyone be sure and respond to Cafferty's question this hour.

22. Leslie? You mean Wolf?
I despise Wolf too, but to be fair, the "Leslie" thing is an Al Franken joke. Franken hosted the WH Correspondents Dinner early in the Clinton years, and cracked a joke that Blitzer's real name was Leslie. Franken talks about this in his book "Rush Limbaugh Is A Big Fat Idiot".

So I am sorry to say, Blitzer found the joke funny, which means calling him that on DU isn't really effective at all if you're somehow trying to convey that you are mocking him. :-)

45. It was a JOKE
Franken made the joke because he knew "Leslie" is perceived as a 'weaker' name than 'Wolf'.

Just locate a copy of Franken's book and find out for yourself. Blitzer's real name is Wolf, short for Wolfgang.

It's all in Franken's book. The fact that people on here believe "Leslie" is his real name just plays into the stereotype Franken was mocking: That 'Leslie' is somehow a less 'macho' name than Wolf. :-)

Obviously, both his last and first names are German in origin. It was Mozart's first name as well. Very common.

His name is not Leslie, that was FABRICATED by Al Franken, as he admitted in his first book.

Bush's constitutional violation started before 911:

Spy Agency Sought U.S. Call Records Before 9/11, Lawyers Say

June 30 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. National Security Agency asked AT&T Inc. to help it set up a domestic call monitoring site seven months before the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks, lawyers claimed June 23 in court papers filed in New York federal court.

The allegation is part of a court filing adding AT&T, the nation's largest telephone company, as a defendant in a breach of privacy case filed earlier this month on behalf of Verizon Communications Inc. and BellSouth Corp. customers. The suit alleges that the three carriers, the NSA and President George W. Bush violated the Telecommunications Act of 1934 and the U.S. Constitution, and seeks money damages...

He is always making statements like this. I don't know if he really is grumpy and all over the place, or he just does it for shock value. He's said things just as bad about the left, like his quip that Air America was a communist radio station.

It's always good to see some bushwhacking, but Cafferty is really not trustworthy.

48. I don't know...
When someone like Cafferty sees the light, maybe it really is good news. He may have political instincts similar to Lou Dobbs, who is a Libertarian, unless I'm mistaken. Bush has really lost the Libertarians and classic conservatives. They still believe lots of things that conflict with Liberal views but they don't share Bush's beliefs. They see him as anything BUT conservative and, in fact, if asked, they would probably brand him as a radical.

59. Emailed this to our hero
To: caffertyfile@cnn.com
Subject: Finally, the TRUTH. Thank You Jack!!
Date: Thu, 17 Aug 2006 22:28:18 +0000

Thank you for saying what should be obvious to all. Bush has nuked our
Constitution with his claims to unrestrained power. Spying on us without a
warrant is intolerable, but it is his claim to unitary authoritarian power to
commit that crime (and others) with impunity that is truly devastating to our
system of government.

Given the gravity and urgency of the threat to our constitutional democracy,
members of Congress have a sworn duty to take immediate action to defend the
nation. To date, only a handful have responded to Sen. Feingold's or Rep. Conyers'
call to action.

Fear of political consequences cannot excuse those who are sitting on their
hands. We expect members of our armed services to risk life and limb to support
and defend. Why should we expect less from members of Congress?

Hearing a public figure tell the truth about the criminal surveillance program
should not be a momentous event. Tragically, these days, it is.

Dare I hope you do not remain a lone voice at CNN?

Cheers,

Patty Keeshan
