Why would McCain show up for Sen. Allen's event?
Whats in it for McCain? From everything i've read about him it seems like the conservative rw base doesn't really trust McCain but on the other hand i can see why Allen would want him there to appeal to the independents, although i don't why independents like McCain so much or maybe they really don't but it's spun that way by the media.

In a side note note i wish the msm would stop referring to McCain as a "Maverick" because quite frankly that moniker on him looks and smells like a steaming pile of shit.

1. To get anywhere, McCain has to appeal to . . .
The widest spectrum of 'Licans he can. Expect to see him EVERYWHERE in the run-up to 2008, from KKK rallies to Lincoln Chaffee fundraisers.

3. lol! that made me laugh!
I can picture him standing there among the white hoods trying to appeal to "The center" of the KKK.

2. I predict Hagel will beat the pants off McCain with Independent voters.
That's why you don't see many photos of Hagel with Bush over the last 4yrs.

4. I believe it was in front of a largely military audience in Norfolk..
which is a voting base that McCain wants to appeal to in the run-up to 2008. It was an I'll scratch you back, you scratch mine arrangement.

5. McCain's stump for Allen was a bust yesterday. . .
http://www.dailypress.com/news/local/dp-02843sy0aug17,0,1907234.story?coll=dp-news-local-final

(snip)
The evening was billed as a "veterans for Allen" rally, but the hotel's conference room was less than half-filled, even after a phone push for a larger turnout. Veterans came from as far away as Colonial Heights, but their numbers were little greater than the reporters and camera people who were there.

As it was, the rally started 10 minutes late and finished more than 20 minute early, according to a campaign worker's schedule.

7. I'm not sure, but I hope he gives Allen a great, big bear hug
Those photos could be fundraising gold in our emails and letters come Winter '07. }(
