This very short movie catches some Reuters, AP and NYT photographers and editors in some ethically compromising situations.

Please keep in mind that I'm not posting this to refute the carnage in Lebannon or to try to pretend that it wasn't horrible. It was a terrible tragedy that even Israelis now recognize. But when people distort what really happened it only hurts their cause, no matter how just the cause may be.

Think about it, if photographers were caught doctoring pictures from the concentration camps in WWII, the entire Holocaust would have been put in doubt. Deniers and anti-Semties all over the world would have pointed to those fabrications and insisted that 6 million Jews were never exterminated. It would have be a nightmare and the truth would have drowned in a whirlpool of speculation and uncertainty. We cannot allow that to happen. We cannot allow the truth to be bastardized and distorted into propaganda, regardless of the cause.

I would love to hear DUers back me up on this.

The orchestrating of the "crowd" when American soldiers helped engineer the pulling down of the Sadaam statue is one situation that comes to mind.

Probably because it's the only half ass thing they can find to defend the indiscriminate tit-for-tat killing that Israel engaged in. Other than that it's sort of an odd ball non story.
