37. I'd say more of a kind religious anarchist
He certainly had no use for government. He never callled for any increase in the bread dole or organize a march on Caesaria. Rather each person's salvation depended on himself alone.

He also claimed to be the son of God, so he was either the messiah, or a very crazy guy.

35. he'd give us all hell......I'm sorry to say........
None of us "Turn the other cheek"
None of us "Love our neighbor and our enemy" as we should

Matthew 5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
44: But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

Matthew 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged. 2.For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again. 3. And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye? 4. Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam in thine own eye? 5. Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

I guess the point is that we are so far away from where he was in his teachings that we'd be stuck.

10. Its bad form to assign Jesus any political affiliation.
He said give unto Caesar what belongs to Caesar and give unto God what belongs to God.

Jesus' words speak for themself. In a nation that is strongly shaped by those words' they should form the basis of agreement between both sides of the political spectrum and that is how they should be used.

In other words, don't say "Jesus agrees with me". Say, we all agree with what Jesus said when he said "x". What are the correct ways of living out that statement through policy.

That much said, at the time He spoke those words, he certainly was considered progressive - to say the least.

17. Somehow I doubt the ancient Greek or Aramaic word
that has been translated into "Liberal" in this version of the bible you quote is exactly the same meaning as you are using it.

Heck, the word "liberal" has a totally different meaning in Europe than in the US.

33. I am fairly certain it is used exactly correctly in the King James version
I don't know what your definition of a Liberal is but I am comfortable with the description in the Bible. Liberals may turn their passion to politics but a lot just turn their passion toward doing good to their fellow man and the earth. For you to automatically assume that Liberal is political is quite telling.

34. Yes, but the Kind James bible was probably a translation
of a translation. From Greek, which was translated from the aramaic.

You have, of course heard that the Greek word for "young woman" was the one used translated into "Virgin" right?

Since this is a political website, taking things from a poltical point of view shouldn't shock you very much. Besides, here I was talking about translations. Feel free to give me your definition of liberal - I would be quite interested.

I saw a bumper sticker the other day here in the bible belt. It said "My boss is a Jewish liberal carpenter". I love it.

19. Anti-Semites is routed in a variety of phenomena, most
blatant of which is the consistent need in human society for a scapegoat when things get bad.

In religious terms, God-killer has often been used as an accusation to apply collective guilt to the Jewish people because their leaders at the time allowed or even facilitated Jesus' execution (of course if he hadn't been crucified, he would never have saved mankind, but who wants to let details get in the way).

The more intellectual justification for anti-semitism (in religious terms) is that the continued existence of Jews (who were originally chosen by God to receive His word) cast at least some measure of doubt on the validity of Jesus' claims to be the saviour of all mankind. If that was the case, why wouldn't all Jews have accepted Him rather than just some?

The Vatican has recently (1960s I think) reconciled this by claiming that God, being timeless, simply does not break his covenant. He made a covenant with the Hebrew people and that remains forever eternal. Jesus allowed for a new covenant for all of mankind (minus the circumcision), but that did not negate his previous covenant.

Sorry if that was too much.

20. Islamophobia: Today's Brand of AntiSemitism
For centuries, professing Christians blamed Jews for every misfortune in the world. Today, many right wing professing Christians are attributing every manner of evil to Semitic Arabs and Muslims of other ethnicities.

It's a strange world that we live in.

24. I don't think so. There are a lot of things for which they blame
liberals.

Moreover, I think the reverse tends to be more true. Muslims often appear to blame all their ills on Israel and the West.

If both would just disappear the earth with be a sharia paradise.

39. You, jesus, we would expect to be so
We recognize you, jesus, with your compassionate heart
and undying respect for the sacred perfection of all god's existance,
and since most persons believe they are a little bit jesus, why not you?

Really it is you, and you are the reincarnation of jesus, really! And that is
why you find the christian cross so abhorrent.
