The very first reports were of a distraught passenger who panicked. THEN the "matches/handcream/screwdriver" thing came up - I think MSNBC mentioned them first... All the stations ran with that crap for a couple of hours

THEN

the initial reports resurfaced, with references to the false reports still on the air..

Whoever stuck that false info into the newstream was deliberately making another "terra.terra.terra" point with the spinmeisters.

I cannot believe it was an accident, or an honest error.
