Hillary sent me a postcard!
I cannot tell you how many times I have either emailed or called Hillary Clinton's office regarding my opinion on some policy or political incident. The most I have ever received has been the very rare responding email thanking me for being in contact but forewarning that she receives too many emails to warrant her sending individual responses. ?????? Then what do they consider the email that they sent to tell me that they cannot respond?

Anyway...

I called the office about a week or so ago when we were asking our senators to vote against the Republican-tax relief-laced, minimum wage law.

Lo and behold...when I got home Monday, there was a POSTCARD ADDRESSED TO ME PERSONALLY. Although it had been mailed, it was not in the mailbox, but was being held by the doorman, who had several others addressed to other tenants in the building. It says:

"Thank you for contacting my Washington, D.C. office. The concerns of my New York constituents are very important to me and I appreciate that you took the time to share yours with me. Please know that as I participate in discussions on the issues before the United States Senate, the thoughts and the opinions of all New Yorkers who write or call are given careful consideration.

Please check my website http://clinton.senate.gov for updates on the issues being considered by the Senate.

Sincerely,
Hillary Rodham Clinton "

While I am happy to have finally, after several years, been recognized by my government employee, I am still very unhappy with her work or her personal policy leanings which do not match mine. I am especially incensed about her support of the war.

I find it obnoxious that NY1 News will not host a debate between Hillary and challenger Tasini for whom I am going to vote in the Primary.

She needs a serious wake-up call.

1. I kind of feel sorry for these Senators who have followings nationwide.
She must get 1000's of emails a day and sorting through who really lives in NY and who doesn't must be a tough job. Not that it completely makes it ok, but Sens like her and Kerry and Obama and others probably get far more than most. (And you know she gets tons of hate mail on top of it all.)

3. You certainly have a point. However, her office has no problem

targeting me with political mailings when she is seeking some kind of approval. If I am on her mailing list then it would not seem to be a major problem to see that I am a NYC resident. But.....:)

Edit: typo

2. You probably have a better chance of getting a personal reply
from Brad Pitt.

I bet she get an astounding amount of mail.

4. With the war chest that she has accumulated, it seems that she
would be able to hire a couple of "minimum wage" interns to sort the mail and organize it into piles of her NYC constituents and others.

My point is that after all of these years and all of these efforts to contact her, she finally decides to respond now when the election is upon us. It reeks of opportunism (if there is such a word.)

What really surprised me was the number of fellow tenants in this building who are also unhappy with Sen. Clinton and have been having the same problems as I have had in communicating with her.

5. Couldn't have anything to do with November approaching, could it?
We're fortunate enough to have one senator, Patty Murray, who always replies to letters either I, or my wife, write concerning her votes/support/non-support of issues. We are sometimes at odds with her stance, but we always recieve a reply outlining her position on the issue at hand.

Maria Cantwell, our other senator, has yet to reply to any of our correspondence. Though we have received the usual pleas for money. Which are quicly directed to the appropriate container for recycling.

6. I'm thinking that the November election event is EXACTLY why
she has chosen to finally respond to one of my communications to her.

And I am furious that NY1 News Channel (local owned b y Time Warner) says that her opponent has not raised enough money to make him a serious enough candidate to deserve to debate Clinton on their station. The nasty comment is that "there are 5 million Democrats in NY. Let each one of them send Tasini a dollar, then he will have enough money to be a serious candidate."

I wish everyone who is sick of Hillary would send him a dollar or more.
